10 members of St Wilfrid’s Church and 4 from St Luke’s, New Rossington have just enjoyed 4 days on pilgrimage at the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham.

Wednesday afternoon saw 9 of us discovering St Mary’s Church at Houghton on the hill, 40 minutes from Walsingham. This 11 century church was deserted and rediscovered covered in ivy. On removing the ivy, it was discovered that the interior is completely covered with religious paintings emerging from the plaster which covered them during Henry VIII’s time - fascinating!

We join with Christians throughout the world in mourning the death of the Holy Father, Pope Francis.

The repose of his soul is the intention of all our Masses in the benefice this week and a special Mass of Requiem will be offered at St Wilfrid’s this Friday (25/04) at 8pm.

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matt. 16:18)
