St Leonards Old Warden The Church of St. Leonard, Old Warden, is a spectacular Grade I listed church in Bedfordshire. Usually open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

But it is also an active church where Christian Services are held regularly. or until dusk, whichever comes first.

St Leonard’s looked beautiful for the traditional Carol service on Sunday, such a transformation after all the recent restoration work. We sang a lovely selection of traditional carols, with mulled wine and mince pies a delicious treat at the end. Grateful thanks also to our young (and not so young) readers.

There will be no service in St Leonard's this week. However, everyone is invited to the War Memorial at 10.45 a.m. on Sunday 10th, for an Act of Remembrance and Commitment to Peace. This short service will include a two-minute silence at 11.00 a.m.

On the first Sunday of every month, we hold a joint service with our sister churches, St Mary Virgin, Northill and All Saints', Upper Caldecote.
This week (3rd November), because it's All Saints Sunday, the service is at 10.30 a.m. in All Saints Church on Biggleswade Road in Upper Caldecote.

Our Sunday service is now at 8:45 a.m. to give the Vicar a little more time. This also means we now have time to sing a hymn as part of the service. Normally, we will use contemporary language, but this week (20th October), we will use the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, we'd be delighted to see you at St Leonards.

It's the Northill & Ickwell Scarecrow Trail this Saturday (14th Sept)! There's sure to be some weird and wonderful creations that you don't want to miss!

You may see some out early in the morning but you can buy a map of the village with all the Scarecrow contestants' locations from the Church Hall, Sand Lane and enjoy some refreshments from 12pm - 4pm.

It’s been ages since I had a beggar at the Rectory door (they were very rare in our part of Scotland). This was a new one though - she turned up in her car 😮and asked for some money for petrol to “help her get back to Ireland”. I offered her a gallon from my jerrycan, but surprisingly she didn’t want that - she just wanted money for petrol. 🤔
If anyone is in genuine need, please do call the vicar. Clergy will give whatever practical help they can - but we won’t give money.

This Sunday, 1st September (the First Sunday of the Month), would normally be a Benefice Service with no service in St Leonard's. But because next Sunday (8th September) is the feast of St Mary, we'll be celebrating the Patronal Festival of St Mary's Northill together at St Mary's on that day instead of this week.
Tomorrow's 9.00 am service will therefore take place as normal.
