Ascension Day, is this Thursday 14th May, when we celebrate the return of Jesus to heaven, 40 days after his resurrection. We hope you can join us for our said Eucharist, in church at 7:30pm. Here is part of the story from Acts: as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While he was going and they were gazing up towards heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up towards heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.’

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

Jesus Christ is not dead, he is alive. Through his miraculous resurrection, sin and death have been defeated, and we have been reconciled to God. Our joy overflows, and we cannot be silent; we must cry out - he is risen indeed, Alleluia!

Good Friday is the day we remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus. It is a sombre day where we meet, pray and reflect on the cost of the great sacrifice of love: Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and redeemer of the world. A prayer for today: crucified Lord, You gave Your life for me out of perfect love. Help me to understand the depth of Your sacrifice. May I carry my own cross with trust and gratitude. Amen

Maundy Thursday is the night Jesus showed what love looks like:
He knelt.
He served.
He loved in full knowledge of what was coming.
Not distant love.
Not easy love.
Love that stays.
Love that cleanses.
Love that takes the lowest place.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.” — John 13:34
💛 He didn’t just tell us to love.
He showed us how.

Today is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week. We hope you can join us at our services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday - more details here: https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/4203/service-and-events/easter/

A prayer for Palm Sunday:
Loving God,
Give us joy in our hearts as we shout Hosanna,
welcoming Jesus our King with palms,
celebrating all that we hope for as the Easter story unfolds.
Then, as the journey of Jesus turns towards Good Friday,
help us know that you are with us when celebration turns to sadness.
Give us the faith we need to follow you
on the way of the cross, which leads to life.
Amen
