Friends of St Mary's Church, Marsh Gibbon

Friends of St Mary's Church, Marsh Gibbon The Friends of St Mary's Church are committed to preserving and enhancing our historic church as a vital part of the village's heritage and community.

Our mission is to raise essential funds to maintain St Mary’s as a welcoming space for all. The Vision 2030 Friends Fundraising Group’s primary objective is to help promote St Mary’s Church in Marsh Gibbon as the local centre of worship and mission, as a building that is of service to the entire community and as a focal point of village identity. St Mary’s Church is a charity that receives no cent

ral funding from the Church of England or elsewhere. The Friends Fundraising Group has been formed by members of the village community in response to the financial challenges that St Mary’s Church now faces in paying for annual operational costs such as, insurance, heating, lighting, repairs and maintenance of a 750 year old building together with local clergy salary contributions
The Friends Fundraising Group will operate as a sub-committee of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Mary’s Church who are responsible for its upkeep, maintenance and overall funding of local clergy services. The Group’s aim is to engage with the local community, and people with a personal connection to St Mary’s Church, to establish views for the future of the church as a centre for village life and worship as well as seeking financial support through regular giving and other fundraising initiatives.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended the first Marsh Gibbon Art Festival over the weekend. It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying local art and the church looked fantastic as a pop up gallery.

A special thanks to Graham Perryman at Dragonfly Framing for organising and putting on such a fantastic display of art. We would also like to thank Hilary Lambourne, Nigel and Caroline Walker and the Joy Bells for their lovely musical accompaniment.

We are already making plans to bring this event back next year and expand it further.

Thanks again to everyone.
