Bromley Parish Church

Bromley Parish Church St. Peter and St. Paul, Bromley is a family friendly church in the centre of Bromley. The church is part of the Diocese of Rochester within the Church of England.

Combining high quality music, liturgy and a warm welcome we look to be a place of welcome, serving the needs of the community around us. St Peter and St Paul is a church in the town of Bromley, in south east London. Known familiarly as Bromley Parish Church, it is not far from Bromley High Street and approximately halfway between Bromley North and Bromley South railway stations. Largely destroyed

by bombing during the Second World War, St Peter and St Paul was rebuilt in the 1950s. On St Edward the Confessor’s Day, 13 October 1949, the foundation stone of the new church was laid by then Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II). Eight years later, the last phase of rebuilding was complete and on 14 December 1957 the new church was consecrated by the Bishop of Rochester, Christopher Chavasse. The present church incorporates the medieval tower and much of the flint and fragments of the original stone building. Bromley Parish Church sits in the centre of Bromley and exists to proclaim the word and work of God. Many people pass by and many come in to worship or to pray privately or just to take a few minutes of quietness in our busy town centre. The Church joins with other Christian communities in Bromley to reach out to people in a wide variety of needs: physical, spiritual and emotional. The heart of Bromley Parish Church is the weekly Parish Eucharist at 10.30am each Sunday. In this celebration we join with Christians throughout the world and across the ages to follow Jesus’ command to “do this in remembrance of Him.” You are welcome to this and all services

We are delighted to announce that Tom Robson has been appointed as our new director of music - starting in August.

Tom enjoys a busy freelance career as a singer, teacher, and conductor, and is based in London. He read Music at Royal Holloway, University of London, before completing a Master of Music in Vocal Studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Tom has been a Lay Clerk at Westminster Cathedral for the past fourteen years, and alongside this works regularly with many of the UK’s leading vocal ensembles, including Tenebrae, The Sixteen, Gallicantus, The Gabrieli Consort, the BBC Singers, Arcangelo, and ORA. As a soloist and recitalist, he appears frequently in oratorio and concert repertoire, with a particular affinity for English song. He has performed across the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States, and has broadcast regularly on television and radio. His voice can be heard on over forty commercial recordings, as well as on numerous film and video game soundtracks.

Tom is currently Conductor of Chichester Chorale, and was previously a Lecturer at the University of Chichester, where he directed the choirs and taught choral conducting.

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the church being destroyed by a parachute mine with the loss of the life of Hazel Kissick.

The motto of the church became 'Resurgem' - "resurrection" something we celebrate in this Easter Season and the promise of new life and the renewal of hope wherever things seemed darkest.

A prayer at this time

God of glory, by the raising of your Son you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
