What an incredible YP Anniversary celebration! 🌟

On Sunday we handed the entire worship service over to our children and young people... and they did an absolutely fantastic job!

From the very first note to the final prayer, every part of the service had been planned and led by them. Olivia and Charlotte confidently guided us through the morning, leading us into a thoughtful reflection on 1 Corinthians 9:24–27, reminding us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus rather than chasing the glitter and gold of the world.

The young people creatively wove songs from well-loved musicals into the message. As we listened to I See the Light from Disney's Tangled, we lit floating candles as a personal commitment to follow the light of Christ. Hollie's beautiful solo of Never Enough from The Greatest Showman reminded us that nothing this world offers will ever truly satisfy—but Jesus is always enough. Emma then shared a moving rendition of This Little Light of Mine, alongside a prayer encouraging us to take Christ's light into our communities.

There were smiles all round as Cerys chose Dare to be a Daniel, challenging us to be brave in standing for Jesus, while baby Matthew (with a little help from Mum!) led us in I'm in the Lord's Army, reminding us that every one of us has a place in God's family.

One particularly lovely moment came as Charlotte led us in writing prayers for our children and young people on colourful kites. As we sang Let's Go Fly a Kite from Mary Poppins, we flew them together as a joyful symbol of lifting our prayers to God.

The worship group, made up of our own young people with a little support from some of the adults, opened our worship with Praise the Lord, What a Beautiful Name and Way Maker—all chosen by the young people themselves. Our YP Band leader also opened the meeting with leading the children with timbrels, ribbons and the lively band piece Shine Down.

We also wanted to celebrate those who couldn't be with us, whether they were away on holiday or preferred to remain in our sensory space rather than be at the front. They are every bit as important and valued in our church family, so we finished by singing one of their favourites, Our God is a Great Big God, together.

And one final, very special moment made the day even more memorable. ❤️

We had the joy of welcoming Hollie as an Adherent member of Bristol South Salvation Army. While Hollie has always been a much-loved part of our church family, it was a real privilege to officially recognise this important step in her own journey of faith.

We're so thankful for the young woman she is becoming, and we're excited to continue walking alongside her as she grows in her relationship with Jesus. Please join us in praying for and encouraging her in the months and years ahead.

The celebrations continued afterwards with a free BBQ in our hall garden—a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, great conversation and fellowship together.

A huge thank you to every child, young person, leader and parent who made the day so special. We are incredibly proud of our young people and thankful for the gifts God is growing in them. ❤️

This Sunday we're back to our usual (if you could ever call us normal! 😄) all-age worship at 10:30am, and we'd love to welcome you if you'd like to join us.

PROMOTED TO GLORY

BRIAN McMANUS
26th July 2026

"Well done, good and faithful soldier."
Matthew 25:21

It is with both sadness and thanksgiving that we share the news that one of our soldiers, Brian McManus, passed away peacefully on 26th July 2026 and is now with his Saviour.

Brian was a familiar and much-loved face on North Street, East Street and in Knowle, faithfully sharing The Salvation Army's War Cry papers and the love of Jesus with so many.

We thank God for Brian's life, his faithfulness and his witness.

Our love and prayers are with Pat, David, Matthew, and the wider family at this time.

🧱 At our last Lego Club, we took on the challenge of building GIANTS! 🧱

As we built, we imagined what it would have been like to come face to face with Goliath. How would we feel? What would we do? We heard some very creative ideas... including using grenades! 😄

We then explored the Bible story of David and Goliath, discovering how God helped a young shepherd boy defeat a mighty giant with just a stone and his trust in God. It's a wonderful reminder that, with God's help, even the biggest challenges can be overcome.

Just look at these amazing LEGO versions of Goliath – our builders did a fantastic job! 👏 Which one is your favourite?

🎉 This Friday is our final Lego Club before the summer holidays, and we'll be celebrating with some party food!
