We are also beyond happy to be hosting These Two Hands monthly for their Makers Market.
It is wonderful to see our new space used as it was intended, as a place for community. With a theme each month following the seasons, Naomi is creating a place, not just for artists, but everyone. To gather, to create and be together 💛

A recent survey in our area asked what people in the community wanted more of and the most common answer was more community events and spaces and reasons to gather. We all crave more connection with people and more real conversation. It's the reason why I started the BS4 arts trail 4 years ago and it's the reason why I'm launching a monthly Makers Market on my little high street, Sandy Park Road, from July onwards to showcase local artisan makers. I want to create a lovely space for people to gather, celebrate the season and feel more connected with their community. Each market will be curated with a seasonal theme, there will be creative workshops for all ages and each one will be raising money for a different charity linked to the theme.

July's market is all about flowers and plants, garden parties, summer colours, scents and designs. There will be flowers, ceramics, jewellery, soaps and balms, cakes and art. I will be running my pressed flower tealight workshops for all ages during the day. There will be a raffle to help raise money for with each maker donating something to be won. I am so proud to know so many amazing makers who are interested in being involved and to be able to do something I believe in that I think will make a big difference to our area. BS4 is a hidden gem with a wonderful community.

If you are a maker and would like to be involved, you can visit my website for all the dates and the application form and to see what each month's theme is. I can't wait to gather and celebrate community and creativity with lots of people every month.

⛪ Did you know St Cuthbert’s Church was completed in 1933, making it over 90 years old and it’s been serving the local community ever since.

📸Do you have any photos of St Cuthbert's through the years? We'd love to see them!
We may even select some for new cover photos.

Although its design is quite simple and light inside, the building was carefully designed to feel open, calm and welcoming, something that continued to matter through our refurbishments and still today.

For generations, St Cuthbert’s has been more than a place of worship, it’s been a place for community, friendship and support.

We’re proud of our history and excited about its future 💛

We’re excited to host Jeet Kune Do (often known simply as “JKD” training) at St Cuthbert’s on Monday evenings hosted by Charlie and Paris.

JKD is a practical, efficient and adaptable martial art, originally developed by Bruce Lee.

It focuses on real‑world street application, awareness and personal safety.

Some of JKD's key principles are attacking vital targets and using a safe distance as the primary form of defence.

Making it especially effective and accessible for:

- People who may not consider themselves physically strong.
- Those who want to protect themselves and escape as quickly as possible.
- Women
- Anyone interested in practical self defence.
- Someone who has a goal to increase fitness, build confidence and attain presence of mind.

This group is part of a wider international JKD network, training alongside associated clubs under the leadership of world renowned Instructors.

Charlie and Paris bring over 30 years of shared experience, knowledge and enthusiasm into each session.

Attached is a photo of them and the wider JKD network at a recent seminar.

If you’re curious, interested or just want to find out more, why not join them on Monday's at St Cuthbert’s from 7-8.30pm.

1st class is FREE, then £10 PAYG after
No membership tie-ins for limited time 💪🏻🥋

Help secure the future of St Cuthbert’s Church, Brislington

St Cuthbert’s is working hard to recover from unexpected building challenges and continue serving our community.
During essential works over £30,000 had to be redirected to asbestos remediation, meaning funds raised for improvements were lost. We are now raising money through Stewardship to help us move forward and build a sustainable future.

Your support will help us:
-Restore and improve our facilities
-Reopen our spaces for community groups
-Improve accessibility and sustainability
-Ensure St Cuthbert’s remains a welcoming local hub

Whether as a one‑off gift or regular support, every donation makes a difference.
