WORSHIP & COMMUNITY
Worship is in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England within which all are welcome and made to feel at home.The Bishop of Beverley (the Provincial Episcopal Visitor for the Northern Province), the Rt. Sundays

11am Parish Mass

Our main Sunday service: a celebration of the Eucharist/Holy Communion with hymns, choir and sermon and Catholic ceremonial. There are Sunday School activities for children at the same time and refreshments afterwards. Wednesdays

9.00am Morning Prayer

9.30am Mass

A short, simple celebration of the Eucharist, with refreshments available afterwards. On the 1st Wednesday of each month the service includes the Sacrament of Laying on of Hands and Anointing for the Sick

Thursdays

Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade, a uniformed organisation for young people aged 5 and upwards, meets in the Church Hall. Fridays

6.00pm Evening Prayer

6.30 pm Mass

A short, simple celebration of the Eucharist: an opportunity to come to Holy Communion especially for those who work on Sunday mornings. Other service times

Christ the King share the Priestly Ministry of Fr John with St' Andrew's Spennymoor as a result, other than Monday, Mass is said daily along with either morning or evening prayer at either Christ the King or St Andrew's Spennymoor.

We are delighted for Fr. Gareth on his appointment to his own parish, although we will miss him enormously.

He will finish work in our parishes at the beginning of August. His Farewell Mass and Party will be at our sister church of St. Andrew's Spennymoor (DL16 6NE) on Monday 31st August at 7pm, the Feast of St. Aidan and the Saints of Lindisfarne. Everyone is welcome.

Please keep Fr. Gareth, those close to himz and the parishes in your prayers at this time of change.

We are delighted to announce that Fr Gareth Gladman, currently Assistant Curate for the Benefice of Christ the King, Bowburn and St Andrew's, Tudhoe Grange has been appointed Priest in Charge for the Benefice of Middlesbrough, The Ascension.

The Bishop of Whitby will officiate at the licensing Service which will take place on Wednesday 9 Sep, 7pm at The Ascension, Middlesbrough. The Bishop of Beverley will also be present to pray for God’s blessing as Fr Gareth takes up this new ministry.

We look forward to welcoming Fr Gareth and ask for your prayers as he enters this exciting new chapter of his ministry.

This coming Sunday, 5th July, we are delighted to welcome back Fr. Joe (Colin) Dickson as our preacher. Fr. Joe, who is Rector of St. David's Pilton, Edinburgh, and a Novice in the Oratory of the Good Shepherd, is a longstanding friend of our parishes, and is always a memorable speaker.

Join us for the Sung Mass at 11am, when in our gospel reading we will hear again Jesus' invitation to come to him and be refreshed. Sunday school activities for children will also be happening. Everyone is welcome.

Well that was fun! Our second (now annual) residential weekend for some of our young people has just ended. A fabulous weekend of fun in Upper Teesdale, with outdoor activities and engaging Bible study with Heather, one of our Authorised Children's Ministers. Also, Sunday Mass with the hills of Teesdale as the backdrop! Our Mass at 11am on Sunday's incorporates Children's activities and we hold a regular youth group for our teens and older children. Come along and be part of it.

We even had the extra excitement of one of us turning up straight from Prom on Friday night ! Thanks to all who make our ministry to children and young people possible.
