6th Sunday of Easter — Reflection
Not Abandoned, but Indwelt
Jesus prepares His disciples for a profound shift — He will no longer be physically beside them, but spiritually within them.

True love naturally bears the fruit of obedience — not forced but freely given. When faith feels like a burden, it is often because we have focused more on rules than on relationship.
Jesus promises the Paraclete - the Holy Spirit - who is not merely a reminder of God but the very Presence of God dwelling within us.

Like a father giving his frightened child a small light in the dark, we are never alone. We are not spiritual orphans — we are named, held, and protected. 🕊️

The world is not transformed by our arguments but by the peace and hope that radiate from those who know they are not abandoned. Our lives become a quiet but powerful testimony — we are not alone, and God Himself is our strength, our peace, and our home. 🙏

A week of celebration and feast days with 1st May being the feast day of St Joseph the worker and preceding this the feast of Catherine of Sienna on 29th April

Now leading into a month of celebration for our Virgin Mother Mary!

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”
Luke 1:42 ESV
May is one of the most beautiful months in the Catholic calendar - entirely dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother. 🕊️

The tradition dates back to 18th century Europe, where Jesuit priests began leading special devotions in honour of Our Lady during the spring month. By the 19th century the practice had spread throughout the universal Church.

May falls within the Easter season - a time of resurrection joy - and spring itself has long been associated with new life, renewal, and hope. Mary, as the woman who bore the Author of Life, fits perfectly within this symbolism.

This month our new Holy Father Pope Leo XIV has asked us to pray for a profound intention - that everyone might have food, as 318 million people experience acute hunger every day. What a beautiful Marian intention - for Mary herself knew what it was to care for the hungry and vulnerable. 🙏
How to honour Our Lady this May at St Patrick’s: 🌸

🌹 Pray the Rosary daily
🌸 Celebrate Our Lady of Fatima - 13th May
👑 May Crowning - crown Mary with flowers
📿 Begin a Marian novena
May devotions are not about Mary instead of Jesus - they are about Mary pointing us, always, toward Him.
“A Christian without the Madonna is an orphan.”
— Pope Francis ✝️
Let us run to our Mother this May. 🌹

⚔️ Welcome, Sir! ⚔️
We are delighted to share some wonderful news from our St Patrick's community! 🙌

This past Sunday, Mr Okafor was officially appointed as a Knight of St Columba - joining a proud brotherhood of Catholic laymen dedicated to the service of the Church and one another ✝️

KnightsofStColumba has a remarkable history - founded on 5th October 1919 when Patrick Joseph O'Callaghan gathered 24 Catholic men in Glasgow and established an Order built on three fundamental virtues:

⚜️ Charity ⚜️ Unity ⚜️ Fraternity

Over 100 years later, the Order continues to grow — welcoming men of all nationalities, backgrounds, and ages, united in their commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and the moral and social welfare of their communities.

Mr Okafor - we are so proud to count you among their ranks. What a gift to our parish family! 🏛️🙏

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another." 1 Peter 4:10 ESV

A day of celebration, rejoicing all those who celebrate the gift of life in April 🙏

Happy World Day of Prayer for Vocations 😊

May you continue to hear the Good Shepherd’s Voice in a Noisy World

“I am the gate; if anyone enters through me, he will be saved.”
John 10:9 ESV
Sun. 26th: Mass 10:00am ✝️
4th Sunday of Easter — Good Shepherd Sunday 🐑

Reflection:
In a world filled with noise, fear, and false promises, Jesus stands before us as the true Gate — the one safe passage into peace, nourishment, and freedom.

He promises not mere survival but abundant life — the deep inner freedom of knowing we are loved and guided. His abundance is not measured in possessions but in the peace that comes from walking with Him.

Today, on the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, we remember those called to echo the Shepherd’s voice as priests, deacons, and religious. Yet every Christian shares in this mission — parents, teachers, friends, and neighbours all become shepherds when they protect the vulnerable, speak truth with love, and guide others toward what is good.

Let us ask for the grace to follow Him with trust, and to reflect His compassion in our own lives, so that others may find safety, mercy, and abundant life through the way we live. 🙏

“I am the door; if anyone enters in by me, he shall be saved.”
John 10:9 ESV
Sun. 27th April : Mass 10:00am ✝️
4th Sunday of Easter — Good Shepherd Sunday 🐑
Reflection
Jesus is not just the shepherd — He is the door itself.
The door that opens heaven. The door through which love descends to us, so that by loving Him, we might rise to the Father.
“You who loved us, you came down to us; by loving you we shall mount up to you.”
This Sunday we are reminded that the path to the Father runs through Christ alone. Not by our own effort or worthiness — but through Him who loved us first and came down to meet us where we are.
“Nobody comes to the Father except by me.” — John 14:6
As we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday, let us ask — are we entering through the door He has opened? Are we following the voice of the One who calls us by name? 🐑

Children’s Liturgy 🌿
On Sunday our youngest parishioners gathered for Children’s Liturgy — and what a gospel to explore together ✝️

The Road to Emmaus

Today our children learned the art of sharing and caring and more about our Lord — one who meets us exactly where we are, walks beside us, and makes our hearts burn with hope again.

3rd Sunday of Easter — Reflection ✝️

On this Third Sunday of Easter, we meet two disciples walking away from Jerusalem — the place of their shattered hopes — toward the dimming horizon of Emmaus. Their journey mirrors our own “we-had-hoped” moments, when disappointment or grief quietly pulls us away from faith, community, and courage. Emmaus becomes the destination of every heart that feels let down by God.
Yet it is precisely on this road of retreat that the Risen Christ draws near.

He listens before He teaches, receives their sorrow before He reframes their story. And in the breaking of the bread, their eyes are opened: Jesus is not a distant memory but a Living Presence who waits for our invitation to “stay with us” so He can turn our sunset into dawn.

The encounter ends with a reversal so dramatic it defines the Christian life. The same disciples who were fleeing now race back through the night to the very place they abandoned. Word and Eucharist transform retreat into return, fear into mission, and weary hearts into hearts on fire. Whatever “Emmaus” you may be drifting toward today, Christ walks beside you, ready to turn you around and send you forward with renewed purpose. 🕯️

What’s your favourite hymn? We know Father Hyacinth’s 🎶

We sat down with Fr Hyacinth this week to ask him a few questions —to get to know him a little better as he approaches his first anniversary at the parish.

And who better to reflect on the Emmaus road than our priest who walks it with us every Sunday - breaking bread at this very altar, week after week. 🍞

We want to hear from you too 👇

Divine Mercy Sunday 🕊️ — Reflection
Peace Behind Locked Doors.

The Gospel shows the disciples hiding behind locked doors, overwhelmed by fear and shame. They are unsure of the future and burdened by their failures. Yet Jesus does not wait for them to be courageous or worthy. He enters right into their fear and speaks the words their hearts long for: “Peace be with you.”

This is the heart of Divine Mercy. God meets us exactly where we are — not where we pretend to be, not where we wish we were. Jesus shows His wounds not to accuse but to reassure, offering peace instead of judgment. Even Thomas, with all his doubts, is invited closer. Jesus meets his uncertainty with compassion, turning doubt into a deeper faith.

Today we are invited to ask: Where are the locked doors in our own lives? What fears, wounds, or doubts keep us hidden? On this Divine Mercy Sunday, Jesus steps into those very places and offers the same gift He offered the disciples: His peace. Let us allow Him to enter, to heal, and to speak mercy into our hearts.
