Since its establishment in the 70’s, the Masjid has gone through numerous phases of development and progress. The building itself has become a landmark of the area and is well-known to all, with a colourful history behind the structure. Serving the Muslim community, Green Lane Masjid has developed over the years catering for all people by providing vital services and assistance. As well as a Madra

sah, the Masjid houses offices, flats, library and a state of the art funeral faciilities. Numerous guests have visited the Masjid, including the illustrious Imams of the two holy mosques of Makkah and Madinah, as well as various Islamic scholars and local MPs. With recent developments at the Masjid, the services being offered have increased; a recent renovation means that the Masjid accommodates more worshippers than ever; a radio broadcast system has been installed; sermons and other programs are now broadcast over the internet and much more is being planned to cater in particular for the younger Muslim community.

Alhamdulillah, this year your generosity helped us distribute 12 cow shares to families in Afghanistan, allowing them to partake in the blessings of Eid al-Adha.

For many, this was a rare opportunity to enjoy fresh meat and celebrate Eid with their loved ones. Your Qurbani served as a powerful reminder that the Ummah stands together, even across great distances.

May Allah (SWT) accept your sacrifice, reward your compassion, and fill your life with barakah and khayr. Ameen.

ʿĀshūrāʾ is a blessed day that reminds us of Allah’s saving of Prophet Mūsā عليه السلام and the strength of faith in times of trial.

Helping young learners understand Islam and its values 🌙

Green Lane Masjid & Community Centre recently visited Colmore Infant and Nursery School to deliver an engaging workshop for Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils.

The session introduced children to key themes in Islam, including Hajj, the story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), trust in Allah, patience, gratitude, kindness, prayer, charity and caring for others. 🤲

A lovely message from the school said:

“It was fantastic and just perfect for our children. It was brilliantly timed and very engaging with high quality materials used throughout.”

We are grateful to Colmore Infant and Nursery School for welcoming us and for their kind feedback. Educational visits like these help build understanding, strengthen community links and give young pupils the opportunity to learn about Islam in a warm and accessible way. 💚

📚 Last week we were delighted to welcome around 45 professionals from the University of Birmingham’s Faith-Based Leadership and Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme to Green Lane Masjid & Community Centre.

The group enjoyed a tour of the masjid, observed congregational prayer, and learned more about the vital role mosques play in serving their communities.

The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase GLMCC’s work across education, da’wah, youth development, welfare and community engagement. For some attendees, this was their first visit to a mosque, making it a particularly meaningful experience and a valuable opportunity to build understanding and connection.

✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to welcoming future cohorts to GLMCC, Insha’Allah.
