Today in the Christian calendar is Ascension Day - when Jesus was lifted up to Heaven. Every year at this time for the past 10 years the Thy Kingdom Come initiative runs. This is a global, ecumenical Christian prayer movement that takes place annually between Ascension Day and Pentecost. Throughout these days we are given Bible readings, daily devotional and encouraged to pray for 5 people who we would love to see come into a relationship with God.

We invite you over this time to download the app and be guided through this time.

Today is Candidates Sunday. It’s is an opportunity to intentionally explore God’s calling on our lives – what it might look like and where it might take us.

Each one of us is called to live like Christ in our circles of influence, and we all have a part to play in ministering to each other and shaping the faith of others.

What is God calling you to in his kingdom building today?
Is it something more in your local setting?
Is it Salvation Army Officership?
Is it to be a Territorial Envoy?
Let your yes be YES to whatever God is calling you to.

This past week we’ve posted films from officers in this division hearing about their call to officership. Today it’s the turn of Jacob, who is currently in training at William Booth College. He’s giving us a glimpse of what his day looks like.

Corps across the territory will hold worship services, on Sunday 10 May, to encourage and challenge people to respond to what God is saying to them.

Candidates Sunday is an opportunity to intentionally explore God’s calling on our lives – what it might look like and where it might take us.

Some people are called to be Salvation Army officers and territorial envoys, and space is given for people to consider these specific ministries.

Throughout this week in the run up to Candidates Sunday we will be posting short films from officers across the division sharing their story of being called to officership. Perhaps it might stir something in you to consider this more deeply.

We also encourage you to keep praying at 9:38 (am &/or pm) for more leaders. Matthew 9:38 says:
“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
