FWCC-Europe and Middle East Section (EMES) - Quaker Friends World Committee for Consultation - Europe and Middle East Section (FWCC-EMES) The name was changed to Europe & Middle East Section (EMES) in 1992.

FWCC EMES is the collective body for Quaker meetings in Europe and the Middle East. All individual members of yearly meetings and groups affiliated with EMES are members of FWCC. The European Section of FWCC was recognised in 1938, at the second World Consultative Committee meeting held in Vallekilde, Denmark. EMES normally meets once a year for our Annual Meeting in late spring/early summer. Repr

esentatives at the Annual Meeting conduct the business of the Section and the Annual Meeting is the decision-making body of the Section.

Quakers from Kenya, El Salvador, Rwanda, South Africa, the Philippines, Australia, Aotearoa, the USA, Mexico, Germany and England are currently gathered at the 'first Friends World Office' - Swarthmoor Hall - for the last day of the annual in-person Central Executive Committee of the Friends World Committee for Consultation.

Thank you to staff and local residents for welcoming us so warmly.

With the help of interpreters the meeting is taking place in three languages, and helping decide the future steps of the global body which connects Quakers together in 100+ countries.

Part of the Friends World Committee's mission is to communicate our common message and heritage internationally. We look forward to sharing more news soon.
