As communities across our region face the impact of devastating fires, the Bishops of Birmingham and Aston pray for all affected.

“We are deeply saddened by the fires that have affected communities across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.

“We hold in our prayers those who have seen their homes damaged or destroyed, those who have been evacuated, and all who are frightened by the fires and smoke.

“We give thanks for the emergency services who are working tirelessly to keep people safe, and for the neighbours and communities who are looking out for one another.

“In times like this, we are reminded how much we depend on one another. Our prayer is that those who are frightened or grieving will know the strength and kindness of those around them.”

Rt Revd Dr Michael Volland, Bishop of Birmingham
Rt Revd Esther Prior, Bishop of Aston

Our Gardening Team relaxing with some tea and coffee after a very busy morning cutting down things and tidying around the church. What a blessing they are!

In a culture that worships productivity, rest is often viewed as a luxury we cannot afford. However, Scripture reveals that rest is not a reward for our hard work, but a prerequisite for faithful living. The first step toward true rest is the willingness to disconnect. In our modern world, we are constantly bombarded by digital noise, professional demands, and personal obligations. We believe that if we stop moving, everything will fall apart.Jesus chose to pause. He prioritised solitary communion with the Father over the immediate needs of the people. This demonstrates that rest is an act of trust. When we intentionally stop working, we acknowledge that God is the one sustaining the world, not us.
Taking time to rest is an act of holy defiance against a restless world. . . ✨️

Think of your calendar and diary 📖 📅
Do you view rest as a reward you must earn after a long week, or as a holy boundary you set because you trust God is running the universe without you?

Why don't you join us for our Sunday service at 10am as we look at Rest as Sacred.

Looking forward to seeing you 😊

Yesterday we heard the story 'Leaving the Garden' and made the apple and snake from the story using pipe-cleaners and foam! We also sang lots of songs together and enjoyed some squash and biscuits as usual! Why not come and try the children's choir and craft sessions at Ascension every Sunday at 10am? Friendly and welcoming to all :-)

What a joy it was yesterday to join the other churches in the afternoon at the churchwarden's admission service. Our very own Heather and Bob were formally installed in their office as churchwardens.

"May your stave be to you a sign of the office and ministry you share with the Bishop and a symbol of your reliance on the strength and grace of God in all things."

Please do join us in congratulating and praying for them in their office.😊✨🎉
