A big "thank you" from the Friends of St George’s
On Saturday 9th May we had a very successful Plant Sale and Coffee Morning at Beckington
First School. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event by generously donating plants, home baking and produce, and raffle prizes. Also thanks to many of you who helped on the day. There was a lovely atmosphere, with lots of conversation and social interaction, and the weather was bright. We raised over £1260, a great result. The local gardens will also be enhanced by all these healthy young plants!

Blue Christmas

This is advance notice that we will be holding another ‘Blue Christmas’ at 4pm on Sunday 30th November at St George’s Church. This is a short reflective service with a gentle seasonal theme, for all those who may, for a variety of reasons, find this Christmas season to be difficult.
Everyone is very welcome and please pass this information on to anyone you know who might find it helpful.

SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER 10.30am Service of Remembrance
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

🌟 🌟 🌟 St George’s Shining Stars ✨ 🌟 🌟 🌟
We are pleased and excited to share the news that St George’s Shining Stars Toddler Group will meet each Tuesday 9.00am - 10.30am, term time only, in the Clifford Suite of Beckington Memorial Hall. The start date is Tuesday 16th September. The cost will be £2 per child to a maximum of £4. All babies and children of preschool age will be welcome with their grown-ups.
It will be a fun time with a chance for the children to play, sing and enjoy stories and craft activities. The grown-ups will have a chance to meet and chat with others over a cup of tea or coffee. We hope this will be a time for building community and to give support and care to each other.
A big thank you to Beckington Parish Council for a grant, to the village hall committee and for the generous donations of items from the pre-school. We have an enthusiastic, friendly local team of volunteers that are safely recruited and experienced and we are all looking forward to welcoming you.

News from the Friends of St Georges

The Friends of St George's were delighted and thankful that James Cary returned with his new show "God the Bible and everything in 60 minutes".

At least 100 people came on July 2nd to hear his unique blend of humour with his love and knowledge of the Bible. He generously gave his talents so that we could raise funds for the repair and maintenance of St George's, and to date we raised well over £1200, from the event.

We are also grateful to Whiterow Farm shop who kindly donated sausages for the hot dogs and to the team of helpers on the night.

Thanks too go to the 250 + people who supported the event and helped to raise over £1,600 for the church's reserve fund to maintain and improve the building. We can all be thankful for the joy and community spirit as well as the fundraising that the event created.
