Ballymena District LOL No. 8 is delighted to announce that a special, first ever District Mini 12th parade will take place in Cullybackey on Saturday 27 June 2026.

This historic occasion marks an exciting new chapter for the District as it brings one of its most cherished events to the heart of the village.

The event will set the tone for an afternoon of family‑friendly celebration, with a fun day planned at The Hill playing fields beside Cullybackey College to commence proceedings at 12:00. Families can look forward to a selection of children’s inflatables, face painting, and balloon modelling, ensuring plenty of entertainment for younger visitors and to keep everyone refreshed throughout the day, there will be burger and traditional ice‑cream vans, offering a great selection of treats for all ages.

The procession, commencing at Pottinger Street at 2:30PM will travel along Main Street and Shellinghill Road before completing a circuit of Kilmakevit and Tobar Park on the return to Pottinger Street via the same route.

Ballymena District LOL No. 8 extends a warm invitation to the entire community to come along, enjoy the festivities, and be part of this special first‑ever Mini 12th Parade in Cullybackey featuring bands, banners, colour and music.

Commenting Worshipful District Master Bro Matthew Armstrong said; “Our annual mini 12th is one of the focal points of our local parading calendar and this year especially so as it also marks an important milestone in Ballymena District’s ongoing commitment to community engagement across the wider Ballymena area. We are grateful for the ever present support and encouragement we receive from the public and we hope that they will enjoy the occassion as we celebrate our rich culture and heritage together.

From everyone in Braidwater LOL 512 it was a pleasure to walk the streets with North Ballymena Protestant Boys Official once again. Brilliant day from start to finish with wonderful weather, excellent crowds and the band sounding amazing 🤩 Definitely up there if not the best Twelfth to date.

UPDATE

Due to the storm warning on Friday 24th January 2025, George’s funeral will now take place on Saturday 25th January at 10am in his home, 1 Parkside Rise, Ballymena, interment afterwards Ballymena Cemetery.

Allen George Edward 21st January 2025, suddenly at hospital, in his 90th year, late of 1 Parkside Rise, formerly of William Street and Alexander Street, Ballymena. Beloved son of the late William and Elizabeth and dear brother of Lizzie, Isabella, Margaret and the late Willie, Agnes, Freddy, Charlie, Bobby, Jimmy and Willie. All will be welcome to attend his funeral service in his home, 1 Parkside Rise on Saturday 25th January at 10am, interment afterwards Ballymena Cemetery. House strictly private. No flowers please, donations in lieu, if desired, may be sent to James Henry Funeral Services 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EE for St Patricks Parish Church Renovation Fund. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sisters and family circle.

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of George Allen.

On behalf of the Worshipful Master, Deputy Master, Officers and Brethern of Braidwater Purple Star L. O. L 512 we send our sincere sympathy to both the Allen and the Rock Families. George Allen was not only a Gentleman but a great and loyal supporter of L. O. L. 512. To many of us, he was known as Uncle George.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with all the Family at this very sad time.

JOIN THE ORANGE ORDER

In Ulster in the Seventies they came for the "B" Specials and i didn't speak up because i wasn't in the "B" specials.

In the Eighties they came for the Ulster Defence Regiment and i didn't speak up because i wasn't a member of the UDR.

In the Nineties they came for the Royal Ulster Constabulary and i didn't speak up because I wasn't a member of the RUC .

In the Twenty first Century they came for the Orange Institution but i wasn't member so i didn't speak up.

Then they came for me. But by that time there was no one left to speak up for anyone.

Nows the time to join the orange institution, become a member and then you will have your chance to speak up for something! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
