What is the original purpose that God intended for you?
The Stuffed Lion.
Last night I had a rather strange dream. A large lion was trying to get in through my front door, it was so strong it punched several dents in the door and in the end, it finally found its way over the top of the door instead.
Then the lion started to behave like a small cub, being playful, but it couldn’t run about that well because the lion was overfed and rather large.
A man said in the dream said, the lion no longer has its hunting instincts, the lion no longer wants to hunt for prey, its belly is full, it is no longer hungry. The nature of the lion has changed and now depends on people to feed it. It does not feel any hunger pangs.
It is not the same lion anymore. It has become comfortable, well fed, and very content, and the original intended purpose of the lion’s daily existence has altered but not for its own good. It is now on a path it was not designed to be on.
Are you content with worldly pursuits? Do you seek comfort in materialism and food? Is the attention of people important to you?
Are you hungry for the presence of the Holy Spirit?
Our dependence on what the world offers has become the norm for many, and seeking the presence of God through his Son Jesus has been placed on the back burner. Our hunger has been replaced by many other things but not the life-giving words of God. Many have become comfortable with their own ritual and set programs within church but have not shared their testimony or been used to save one soul from hell. Many prayers are not being answered and the power of the Holy Spirit waits in the wings to see who is hungry, who is wanting to pick up their cross and deny themselves for the sake of the gospel.
The spiritual gifts are not being used amongst ourselves we are too busy playing and having fun, like an overfed cub.
What is the original purpose that God intended you to fulfil, may it happen in 2019 for you!
When we become content with the world, we become an enemy to God.
James 4:4 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 You adulterers![a] Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
Worldly dependence and pursuits can lead us not only away from God but it can affect our relationship with Jesus.
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Souls are more precious to God than healings, Souls! Souls! Souls!
What about the souls of others while we have our Christian meetings, programs and praise parties? If we had the tiniest glimpse of hell it would change our perspective.
Are we content with our lives? KNOWING that souls are destined to hell because we did not share or speak the truth?
ARE YOU LIKE THE STUFFED LION? Content with your life and situation. WAKE UP! Do not remain lukewarm. Where is your ROAR? Where is your love for those who have yet to know Jesus? Let 2019 be life changing, life transforming, by the power of the Holy Spirit, by your surrender and submission to the will and purpose of God. DO NOT follow false teachers, follow and imitate Jesus, not man. Jesus is the one who can perfect your faith. Do not go on a different path and be led astray by all the falseness that has corrupted many Christians.
DE CLUTTER for the new year. Get rid off selfish pursuits, allow yourself to be prepared spiritually for new pursuits that honour God.
What will you do in the New Year? What will you change?
Will you be like the lion who made several dents in the door showing its strength yet in reality you just want to play? The lion was strong, large and well fed, but not a lot of use for its intended purpose? It got over the top of the door, it found another way in, but it was not Gods way. Don’t be on a path you were not designed to be on. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, follow no-one else. Allow God to mould you into the person you are meant to be, God bless you and may 2019 be a Holy Spirit changing year for you, Deborah.
