Hughes Arthur James (Jim) 21st November 2023, peacefully, at his home, 30 Drumtara, Ballee, Ballymena. Beloved husband of Valerie, loving father of Derek, Darren, Jaimie and Catherine, father-in-law of Donna, Uel and David and devoted grandfather of Danielle, Aimee, Amber, Leagh, Devon, Tillie, Rudi and Cameron. Funeral service in Henry’s Funeral Parlour 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EE on Monday 27th November at 10.15am, cremation afterwards at 12 noon in Antrim and Newtownabbey Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, may be sent to James Henry Funeral Services (address above) for Marie Curie. Deeply missed by his loving wife, family and family circle.

are you even ready for the most darling story?
this morning my son was with some buddies up at city creek
giving the mall cops something to do
around lunch time i got a text that left me with one hundred follow up questions
so i waited until he got home
and got the full story
he was ordering his food and there was a “nice old man” ordering food behind him in line
they started talking about what each other ordered
you know…mcdonald’s small talk
when their bags came, christian said to him—if you want to eat with us, we are just sitting over there
when i asked him about it, he said, i just figured he was some nice old lonely man
thought he might want some company
and so he did
and they shared fries
eventually the old man told them his family was there at a table nearby and thanked them for the chat
when he walked away, one of christian’s friends said—i think i know him
i think that man talks in conference
no way!
so they googled
and sure enough…he does

they shared fries with president oaks
and christian had no clue
he just thought that old lonely man might want some company
some may think he needs to pay more attention in church
but i think he got the message just fine
i only wish i had a picture
one of a world i yearn to live in
of two strangers trying to make each other’s days
completely unaware
but absolutely winning
all day i’ve had a grin in my soul
and i cannot get paul’s words out of out of my head
(which is perfectly fine with me…)
