This morning, we held the Remembrance Day Parade and Church Service in Abram to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
We had an amazing turnout. Thank you to the groups and organisations from our community who made our village proud: the 15th Wigan Boys Brigade and Girls Association, Veterans, the 1st Abram Scout Group, Abram School, Royal British Legion, Abram Community Centre, Wigan Council, Abram Church Craft Class, Ward Councillors, Remembering Animals, Abram Steadfast Association, Wigan Cosmos FC, Greater Manchester Police, Abram Village Club, Abram Church, St John's Squad, Abram Branch Labour Party and community members.
A special mention goes to our safety marshals, who comprise of people from our community.
Without their dedication, free time, and support, we wouldn't have had this event in our community. You did a fantastic job keeping us safe, and we can't thank you enough.
Jonny Broad, Lee Brown, Andrew Dean, Carl Bramhall, James Redford, Ruth Dean, Tracey Hyde, Stuart Jackson, David Moore, Don Kirkpatrick, Andrew Hayward, David Battersby, Syd Atherton, Steven Smith, Harry Hemsley, Steven Conway, Kerry Wilkinson.
Thank you to CarePrime ambulance services, which kindly provided first aid for the event. Their team provided a vehicle to protect the rear of the parade. They are a very professional company and thank you to Ken and his team for all they did for us today.
Thank you to Reverend Carol Close and her team for organising the service and making everyone feel so welcome. The church service was lovely. A special mention to the children from the church, who sang beautifully.
Thank you to Rachel Gibbons, Danny Orrell, and the Streetworks team from Wigan Council for their work in organising, planning, and carrying out the traffic management for our parade.
We have a fantastic community spirit in Abram, and may it long continue.
Lest we forget
