Further to our post regarding the public open space at the new development east of Kingston Bagpuize and whether this should be designated for further cricket pitches or for general recreational space, the developer David Wilson Homes have issued a press release which can be viewed on the parish council website at https://kbs-parishcouncil.gov.uk/cricket-or-not-at-ferrers-green/, where you can find out how you can have your say

A village litter pick by volunteers on Saturday resulted in 24 bags of rubbish! Our volunteers didn't need to hunt to find these discarded bottles. The two bags seen are full of empty alcohol cans and the bottles filled a further 5 bags. Thankfully, there were no breakages so the area is now clear again for the local wildlife and residents to enjoy without coming to any harm.

CRICKET OR NOT? 🏏 – HAVE YOUR SAY

The Ferrers Green development set to be built to the east of the village included two cricket pitches on the public open space in the original design.

The Parish Council felt strongly that the community would benefit more from open space that was available year-round to all. After discussions with the developer and the Vale’s planning team, a new proposal has been agreed in principle:

âś” Funding originally for the cricket pitch could instead support multiple sports across the village
âś” Community land could be acquired for leisure activities
âś” Open space on the development designed for everyone to use and enjoy

However, this change still needs approval from the District Council’s Planning Committee, which is where you come in.

📣 Your views matter: please visit the Parish Council website to find out more and submit your views to the District Council: https://kbs-parishcouncil.gov.uk/cricket-or-not-at-ferrers-green/

We’ve recently had reports of dog waste being left in the recreation ground. While most dog owners are responsible and clear up after their pets, unfortunately a small number are not.

The recreation ground is a shared space used by children, teenagers, families, and dog walkers, and we want it to be a safe and pleasant place for everyone to enjoy. There are clear signs around the rec reminding owners to pick up after their dogs, and dog waste bins are provided at both ends of the field for convenience.

We kindly ask all dog owners to please pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste in the bins provided. Leaving it behind can spoil the space for others, particularly young people who use the field for play and sport.

Thank you to everyone who already does the right thing — your help keeps the recreation ground clean and enjoyable for the whole community.

The parish council has provided a defibrillator which can be found at the Hind's Head Co-op (Witney Road). It can be accessed 24/7 in case of emergency with a code provided by the ambulance service, who would talk the responder through the procedure. For more information on defibrillators visit https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/how-to-save-a-life/defibrillators/understanding-defibrillators-what-they-are-and-how-to-use-them. Thank you to the Co-op for arranging installation of the cabinet. Other defibrillators are sited at the Village Hall, the One Stop Shop (Cherrytree Close), Petypher House and the Jubilee Pavilion (sports field).
