Pietre Vive

Pietre Vive Announcing the Gospel in Art Lo scopo è rendere accessibile il messaggio spirituale che si cela nelle forme architettoniche e pittoriche ammirate dai visitanti.

Living Stones is an international communion of young adult Catholic communities born to announce the Jesus Christ and the Beauty of the Church to those who look at the beauty of churches. Each guided tour led by the Living Stones is as a proclamation of the Love of God to tourists and visitors who enter 'by chance' in a church. The Living Stones communities have a distinctive style that gives prio

rity to prayer, intense community life, simplicity of life, attention to the poor and children and the fact that their service is completely free.

You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing;
They rejoice before you as people rejoice at harvest, as they exult when dividing the spoils.

There is a light below
the hidden ruins of our hearts
Slumbering quietly away
till You awaken it again

There is a light below the carvings in the wood, the sculpted stone
There is a Light, within their soul
Glowing
Till you and I conversing do reveal
its Great Embrace,
waiting quietly behind closed doors,
knocking softly
waiting for permission to heal

There is a Light which all envelops, drawing to Itself
tired pilgrim eyes
hesitant tourist feet
thirsty lives
which begs to be welcomed
to be granted access and hospitality
to spread seeds that blossom
and will endure
the longest and hardest tests of Time...

How to find God in the desert of our cities?

An exercise of Presence, walking through Berlin.

For the third year, we spent a week together exploring contemporary sacred spaces, listening, sharing, praying, and allowing ourselves to be questioned by the streets and architecture of this city.

St. Canisius, Gedächtniskirche, Maria Regina Martyrum, the Chapel of Reconciliation, St. Michael in Kreuzberg… so different from each other, and yet all making us wonder how sacred spaces can welcome the questions, wounds and hopes of the people of our time.

Our days went between churches and streets, from reflecting on architecture to the Street Spiritual Exercises.
We walked with our own questions, longings and desires, paying attention to what came before our eyes, without judgment, and noticing what became meaningful to us. And the streets sometimes mirrored something of what was happening inside us.

We encountered God in the people we met and drew close to, on a bench, in the traffic, in a place we would normally pass by. In something beautiful or uncomfortable. In getting lost. In waiting.

As Alfred Delp SJ wrote from prison: “The world is so full of God!”

We ended our week with Mass at the jesuit church of St. Canisius, bringing into prayer what we had encountered along the way!

Simplon Pass offered us a sanctuary of silence, where the only language needed was presence. Yet, within that silence, a new conversation began.✨💛
