Forty-one Ethiopian Nazarene pastors from various districts gathered in Addis Ababa for a three-day JF training led by Rev. Augustus Musili. The training was a blessed time of learning, encouragement, fellowship, and spiritual renewal as pastors were further equipped for faithful ministry and leadership.

Prior to the training, the pastors also participated in an additional day of strategic discussions and prayer facilitated by the Horn of Africa Field Strategy Coordinator, Pastor Amanuel N. Mehari, and Rev. Abinet A. Teklemariam. Together, the leaders reflected on the mission of the Church, sought God’s direction for the future, and strengthened their shared commitment to advancing the Kingdom of Christ throughout the Horn of Africa.

Rev. Zacharias Morge, age 100, passed into the presence of the Lord on 20 May 2026 in Chano Mile village, Arbaminch, southern Ethiopia.

Rev. Zacharias is remembered as a devoted man of prayer, a humble servant of Christ, and a faithful evangelist whose ministry touched countless lives throughout southern Ethiopia and beyond. Through his witness and preaching, thousands came to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who knew him often spoke not only of his spiritual passion but also of his gentleness, humility, and remarkable spirit of forgiveness.

During the difficult years of the Derg regime, a Marxist-Leninist military government that ruled Ethiopia from 1974 to 1991, Rev. Zacharias endured severe persecution for his faith. Yet even amid suffering, he remained steadfast in his commitment to Christ and continued to serve the Church with courage and grace.
The life and ministry of Rev. Zacharias are briefly documented in the Nazarene film A Man of God.

The documentary was prepared by Pastor Steve Sharp at the request of Dr. Jim L. Bond for presentation at the July 2005 General Assembly.

Please continue to remember Rev. Zacharias’ family in prayer, both his immediate family and the many spiritual sons and daughters whose lives were shaped by his faithful ministry. May the Lord comfort, strengthen, and sustain them as they carry on the legacy of this beloved servant of God.
