Believe it or not, the Bible is still considered to be the most popular book in the world. In fact, the sale of Bibles in the UK has risen by 134% in the past few years, though there's a world of difference between owning a Bible and reading it.
The Bible is the written word of God. It's the main way that Christians discover God's will for their lives, and it's content is powerful. It can, quite literally, change us from the inside out.
So, if you have a Bible, how often do you read it? Do you actually engage with it, and allow it to change your thoughts, and your behaviour? We all hear readings from the Bible when we go to church, and we hear our preachers expound the word of God in their sermons, but do we read it for ourselves?
Many people who attend our churches are Christians in name only. They don't live the Christian life because they don't know God's word well enough. It's time for change. If the Church is ever to become a dynamic force in society, God's people must begin to live the life as well as talk the talk.
