Curlytraveller

Curlytraveller A blog about travel, art, quirky stuff and lifestyle, by a Dutch woman with curly hair. I call Haarlem and Singapore my home and the world is my oyster.

My blog is a mix of a travel blog, an art blog and a personal / lifestyle blog. Showing you snippets from my nomadic, cosmopolitan life, illustrated with great pictures. I love art, especially street art and murals. Despite being an atheist I love to visit temples and churches. From time to time I share some of my Paper53 sketches on my blog. A personal story every now and then. Lots of informati

on and experiences about cities and places I visited. Preferably a bit of the beaten track. Being the biggest animal lover on the planet I like to share a bit of cuteness occasionally. Oh…and I dance the argentine tango since over 15 years now! Just come over to my blog and let me brighten your day and expand your world.

It's that time of the year again; Xmas and the holidays!
Time for the pink tree to come out and for all the ornaments to shine!

There are birds; lots of them. Sea creatures, forest residents, cats, dogs, bears, strange creatures, and also travel and food items.

The variety is huge and I enjoy each and every one of them.

Is your tree up? Till when are you gonna keep it this time? I'm going for at least mid January. The longer I can enjoy it the better.

A few weeks ago we attended a private event at a jazz bar that has yet to be opened.

We were invited by Joey Somerville, aka , a jazz musician, and his wife Jean, from .

Joey also presented his new single that night: happiness is not a place.

The bar, named Splash, in Calpe, is a dream come true for a British guy who always wanted to open a jazz bar of his own. He worked hard to renovate the place, so hopefully he'll be able to open officially soon.

The evening and the ambiance was intimate, with just a handful of people. We had a nice time.

In 1953, in a little town in the UK named Giggleswick, North Yorkshire, Roscoe and Juniper Koda started a small hand-puppet theater company.

The artist-couple were huge animal lovers, so they decided to theme their puppets and stories around various animals.

Their two main characters were King Canine and Queen Feline.

In the theatershows this King and Queen were having adventures with other cute and funny animal characters.

Some of the audiences favorites were Perry the Porcupine and Furry Fox.

When they became more and more popular and known, the Koda's got permission to add the word Royal to the name of their company. Hence: The Royal Paws Puppet Theater.

The couple retired in 1978, closing the theater at the same time.

Read the hashtags here under closely! They contain an important clue. Let me know in the comments if you figured it out.
