"We should accept a lack of formal education, but we absolutely should not accept a lack of effort. While we champion the uncredentialed but faithful man, we must fiercely guard against the opposite extreme: pastoral laziness masquerading as spiritual reliance. True humility recognizes that we never know as much as we think we do. A man of God, even if he is the primary teacher in his village, must never graduate from being a student of the Scriptures. He should always be a student of the Word.

Unfortunately, it is common to hear some men use the language of an almost mystical and irrevocable “call” on their lives as a shield against accountability and an excuse for intellectual laziness. They treat this supposed calling as a free pass that exempts them from the rigorous study of God’s Word. But we must be biblically precise. In the New Testament, the Greek word for “calling” (klēsis or the verb kaleō) overwhelmingly refers to God’s effectual call to salvation—calling believers out of darkness and into His marvelous light (Romans 1:6, Ephesians 4:1).
When the New Testament speaks of pastoral leadership, it does not rely on the language of a mystical, unquestionable voice that bypasses diligent preparation. Instead, it emphasizes a God-given desire and a willing aspiration. Paul writes, “If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble work” (1 Timothy 3:1).

Pastoral ministry is driven by a profound, God-given desire to feed the flock, not a mysterious “calling” that allows a man to bypass the hard work of biblical study."

The Scaffold of Support:

"Think of the missionary or sending church as the scaffolding around a new building. The ultimate goal is for the building to be completed and eventually stand entirely on its own with a local plurality of elders. But until that structure is completely solid, the scaffolding remains. We slowly transfer the weight of the ministry to them as they grow untiul we eventually "pass the torch" and then move on to, Lord willing, reproduce the same work at another location.

Direction Over Perfection:

Through this collaborative process, these local leaders will continue to learn what constitutes a biblically formed church—including the reality that a plurality of leaders is best and most biblical. We must remember that in missions, it's not about instant perfection from the start; it's the direction that matters."

"The concern is a good one, to make and keep the Gospel as the priority. However, with a quick look at the imperatives in Scripture, the life of Christ, and the Apostle Paul’s example, one would have a difficult time presenting the case that concern for the suffering human condition of our neighbor and generosity towards them was optional. Jesus had “compassion on the multitudes.” Paul said he was “eager to help the poor,” and there are many other examples of why we should do good to the family of faith and to our neighbor."

Update from the Mission Field: A Morning of Rich Teaching and Fellowship in Santiago 🇩🇴

Yesterday morning at Iglesia Bíblica Principio y Fin was a beautiful testament to the blessing of the gathered church. The Lord's Day began with a wonderful and edifying Sunday school class taught by Ramon, which laid a solid, scriptural foundation for the corporate worship that followed.

Didactic & Participatory Teaching
During the main service, Pastor Francisco introduced a refreshing, highly engaging format to launch a new expositional series through the Book of Romans. Utilizing an R.C. Sproul-style, classroom approach, he taught using a PowerPoint presentation and a dry-erase board to visually map out the theological observations of the text. This interactive format had the entire congregation engaged, drawing participation from adults and youth alike.

Corporate Fellowship
Following the edifying teaching of the Word, the church body presented two new members with joy before transitioning to the Lord’s Table, partaking in the Supper together to remember Christ's atoning work. The sweet fellowship of the morning then spilled over into a shared communal meal, allowing the congregation to break bread together and encourage one another in the faith.

Do you ever wonder if you're actually saved, or just hoping you are? And when you pray, do you really believe God is listening?

In 1 John 5:13-17, the apostle John says he wrote his whole letter so believers could stop guessing and start knowing they have eternal life in Jesus. That settled confidence leads straight into bold prayer: "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."

But, John also mentions a sin "that leads to death," and pointedly does not tell us to pray about that one. Not every request — and not every sin — works the same way before God.

Here is the latest lesson form our expository series in 1 John 5:6-12.

Have you ever wondered how you can really know your faith is true, and not just something you talk yourself into?

In 1 John 5:6-12, John gives us the answer: God himself has testified about his Son — through Jesus' baptism, his death on the cross, and the ongoing witness of the Spirit. As John puts it, "If we accept human testimony, God's testimony is greater." Your faith isn't a leap in the dark. It's trust in what God has already said.

John says there's no comfortable middle ground here. To reject this testimony isn't neutral open-mindedness — it's calling God a liar. But to receive it means something wonderful: "The one who has the Son has life."

Report from the Mission Field: Outreach in Barrio Hato Mayor, Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic 🇩🇴

It is a privilege to report on the recent outreach initiatives led by Pastor Victor Dominguez and Iglesia Bautista Remanente de Cristo.

Recently, the congregation organized an afternoon event directed toward the both the children and adults in the community and was supported by a few brothers and sisters from a partnering congregation here in Santiago. The children participated in structured activities This collaborative effort effectively engaged the younger demographic while establishing an open avenue for broader ministry.

Simultaneously, the event provided a strategic opportunity to minister to the parents and guardians in attendance. While the children were occupied with their activities, Pastor Victor Dominguez and his wife, Johanka, facilitated a gathering for the adults. The time was utilized to present the Gospel through clear, accessible teaching.

The intentional focus on the adults yielded an immediate spiritual impact. Pastor Victor provided the following summary regarding the outcome of the outreach:

"Today we had a children's afternoon at our church and we took the opportunity to share the word with the parents who were present at the activity. To the glory of God, at the end, after we prayed, a mother present named Rosa Bonilla professed faith in Christ."

We are deeply grateful for this tangible fruit of their labor and the addition of a new believer to the Kingdom. The event stands as a strong example of how community-focused initiatives can effectively facilitate evangelism.

Prayer Requests:

•⁠ ⁠The new believer: Pray for Rosa Bonilla, her spiritual formation, that she would establish a firm foundation in the Word, and that her conversion would serve as a witness to her household.

•⁠ ⁠Pastor Victor and Johanka: Pray for their sustained endurance, wisdom, and provision as Victor continues to shepherd the congregation.

•⁠ ⁠Building project: Pray for provision to be able to finish the church building. The structure and roof are ready, but the building still needs many finishing touches.

•⁠ ⁠The Hato Mayor Community: Pray for the continued cultivation of the Gospel seeds planted in the hearts of the other attending parents and children.

Ministry Update: The Aftermath of the Venezuela Earthquakes 🇻🇪

Field Report from Rafael Rodriguez

Yesterday, July 24, 2026, marked exactly one month since the double earthquake shook Venezuela on June 24, 2026. To mark this and minister to the victims, Rafael Rodriguez—our Missionary Coordinator who leads a growing team of pastors in Venezuela—traveled to La Guaira, which was the area most affected by the disaster.

Traveling alongside Rafael were two brothers, Irving and Alfonso, from our church plant in Maracay. The journey from Maracay is about 160 kilometers (approximately a 2.5-hour drive). Their mission was to follow up with a new BCMS team member, Pastor Giovanni Conde from Caracas, and to work alongside him in preaching the Gospel and bringing help to the multitudes of victims living there.
Serving Despite Personal Hardship
Rafael and his team are ministering from a place of deep personal sacrifice. Rafael and his own family were directly affected by the earthquakes in Maracay. Their apartment building was left in "estado rojo" (red-tagged as uninhabitable), and they are currently living as refugees in a local hotel.

Yet, despite his own displacement, Rafael notes that they still were entirely shocked and saddened by the sheer magnitude of what has happened in La Guaira.
The Ground Reality: Reaching the Forgotten
According to Rafael, the images we see on the news and social media only represent about 40% of the true reality in La Guaira.
Reaching the Neglected: Pastor Giovanni, who regularly works in La Guaira every week bringing help and preaching, specifically took the team to a part of the region that has not received as much help or attention as other areas.
Widespread Destruction: Entire cities are completely full of rubble, and hundreds of buildings have collapsed completely.
Overlooked Ruins: It is a disaster that will take years to recover from. There are collapsed buildings that were completely unattended to; they are in ruins, they collapsed with inside and rescue crews with heavy machinery never even arrived to check or review them for survivors.
A Heavy Atmosphere: There are thousands of displaced people currently sleeping in tents. Rafael reports that you can palpably feel the mourning, pain, sadness, hopelessness, and uncertainty.
Ministry in Action
In the midst of this tragedy, the team is actively working to bring relief and hope. Working alongside Pastor Giovanni, Rafael, Irving, and Alfonso spent the day ministering to the crowds.

They successfully managed to deliver:
The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Essential personal hygiene products.
Small cooking stoves.
Spiritual and emotional support through praying for the victims, showing authentic compassion and taking time to learn about their stories and give them hope, and passing out many evangelistic tracts.
Urgent Prayer Requests
The lives of the inhabitants in these areas have changed drastically. Rafael asks that we do not stop praying for:
The community of Caraballeda.
The community of Playa Grande.
All the affected zones, especially the overlooked areas where they ministered.

Pray those who are suffering, thta they would look to the Lord. And that the Lord would use this tragedy as an opportunity for the church to do what She was redeemed and saved for, demonstrating the power and glory of Christ through the preaching of the Gospel and the salvation of souls and showing mercy as we have been shown mercy.
