The quest for authentic spirituality in personal life

Man has the ability for the longing, inquisitive, searching spirit within to look beyond the physical universe and dive into the realm of invincibility. There is the human curiosity that lies beyond the emotions common to the human experience that is seeking to know if there is anything else?

If we assume there are sacred and divine realms. What should be our relationship to spiritual reality? There are things that belong to the sphere of the invisible. There is an aspect of the non-material universe such as the "sacred," or the “spiritual.” Man has a reasoning capacity to deal with spirituality through reasoned processes without confining spiritual reality to natural science.

Man lives in the flesh and in his physical environment. The five senses of man are expressed through touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell. Man can enjoy the finer textures of cloth and avoid encroaching on the thorn bush through his ability to touch. The man could enjoy his meal and be aware of spoiled food through the ability to taste. Sight gives strength to our sense of beauty and enables us to see obstacles in our path. Man can enjoy the uplifting music and take note of impending danger through sound. The smell draws man to the fragrance of the rose and makes the stench of the skunk repulsive.

As human beings, I am well equipped by the natural endowment to survive in the material world. Human nature contains all the systems necessary for fueling and maintaining fleshly life. It has been possible for me to adapt to changing climates, diets, and circumstances. I was able to live successfully in tropical climate region in Africa as well as in temperate climate region in Europe.

Nevertheless, man is neither a mechanical robot nor an image comprised merely of dirt and water. Man experiences both pleasure and pain; he is capable of love and hate; he is tempted by a variety of enticements that may control both body and mind. None of these elements fall into the classic definition of rationality. But they do testify that man is a complex being, consisting of both mind and sensation.

The causes and the sources of sensations lie beyond human comprehension. The human’s emotion and other unseen aspects of being bear witness to the presence of something that cannot be explained in physical terms. When one loves, there is a feeling of non-material emotion. Despondency and grieve cannot be seen in a microscope.

Human beings have the capacity to have a sense of “spiritual. The possibility of a spiritual realm is conjectured, especially during the process of dying. The dying may be in the depth of despair or may be overcome with a sense of burden because of a sinful act. The phenomenon is above human comprehension to understand the matter and the spirit or the visible and invisible, the real and the imagined.

The concept of spirituality in personal life

Every human being is an individual and unique. There could be genetic similarities among family members, yet every human being stands apart from every other human being. Children born of the same parent may turn out differently irrespective of a common root, environment, and upbringing.

Although genetics and the environment play a significant role in character formation and in influencing the constitution of a human being, his moral nature can only be explained spiritually. Man is a free will moral being. He is individually responsible to God for all his personal thoughts and actions. Despite genetics and environmental influences, man makes his choice and decides personally how to discharge his responsibility. Man chooses on his own how to respond to human circumstances

Religious thinkers claim that all humans have inherited through birth a "sinful" nature from Adam. This hereditary sinful nature is also known as original sin means that a person is totally depraved and has no ability to make the right choices.

However, since each person is unique, each individual face unique challenges. Each person bears personal responsibility for how he responds to his environment, though he may have inclinations that could be predetermined genetically. Each person makes his choice by choosing the kind of person, he wants to be. He selects leisure activities that provide personal fulfillment. He adopts a diet and eating practices that satisfy personal goals.

Though it is possible that habit is formed extensively by the cultural or family influence, the individual should evaluate those habits to determine if they conform to the standards of righteousness and Christ-like behavior. This does not, however, diminish the concept of salvation by grace.

The spiritual maturity in personal and private arena

The private arena is the area of life that is peculiar to me alone. In the flesh, I could experience carnality which is the opposite of spirituality. Once a time I had a constant battle going on within me. “14 We know that the law is spiritual, but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it” (Rom. 7:14-20).

I was doing things I knew was wrong. Sometimes I began to look for justification to what I was doing. I began to easily give into the act, whenever there was urging to do so.

At some point, it became a regular habit of mine to act in this manner. “21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me” (Rom. 7:20-23).

But by the grace of God, I decided am going to stop this. I prayed to God, for forgiveness and asked for the grace not to do it any longer “24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Rom.7:24-25).

I stop doing it. Thereafter I hardly experience the urge to do it again. And if there comes any urge in me for this act, I simply ignore it and it was easier for me to avoid it.

As a child of God walking in the spirit, I could say No to temptations. I made a choice to reject every evil suggestion blowing to my mind. “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Gal.5:16).

What I do is to start praying for more grace, when I see temptation coming. This always helps me to resist and withstand temptation.

I have found items such as cash or purse that are not mine on the road, in a shop or in the public Bus. What I do is to bring the items to the owner if the address is known to me. In case the address is not known, I gave it to the police officer or the bus driver.

In all what I do on daily activity, I seek for holiness and righteousness. I endeavor to speak the truth all the time and attempt never to defraud anyone.

How to live the abundant life in Christ

Live your life, not on debts

Though it is common to take a loan to acquire property, it is not good to borrow to consume unnecessary things. Unreasonable debts will definitely cause you to be a little stressful. A man that would be happy and see a good life should take caution as to his accumulation of debts. Financial freedom entails having a life free of debts. A stress-free life also requires that you clear your conscience of any guilt or baggage which you carry in your subconscious. To be still entangled into the pass will hinder your future progress. Any stress from your past actions will stand on your way to move on.

It is important to work hard and smarter than ever. It is also important to invest part of your money for non-consumable goods. Save at least 40% of the money from your earnings, Saving money is a culture of prosperity. You can save from any low level to higher income. Saving to invest wisely will prosper you financially. The results of increase will encourage you to work towards a more fulfilling life.

As it is written in 1 Tim.6:6-11 “But godliness with contentment is a great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11 But you, the man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness”.

If you understand that things of this world do not determine who you are, you would not crave for the worldly things. Then actually living below your means helps you know the difference between your expenditure and your needs. It enables you to have a surplus of money to save for valuable things.

An emergency account where you put in at least 10% of your earning will help you to live stress-free. Stress free life always bring happiness , health and prosperity atmosphere, financial fulfillment. This affects your life in a positive way and helps you develop prosperity thoughts.

Do you think you can develop the set actions for attracting prosperity in life? What do you think is required to have the correct mindset? How can the right mindset help you to prosper financially? Would you like to discuss it with us?

The attitude towards prosperity:

Be a generous giver

An attitude of generosity could shape the way we think and perceive money. Apart from the fact that Jesus says that you receive by being a giver, it gives you a sense of Joy. If you always think about helping someone, it will affect your thought pattern. You will start feeling abundance in your life. This could open your eyes to some market opportunity or career top up.

Helping as much as you can not enslave you to money. Helping those who cannot pay you back will create in you the atmosphere of abundance and prosperity.

Be content and grateful

A content person is the one who feels grateful for whatever he has. No matter your situation in life, there is something to be grateful for. An ungrateful heart will hardly receive anything from above. This act of gratefulness is the key to your happiness in all circumstance.

If you are grateful and contented, you will always use positive words that bring joy. Your perception of want and abundance will affect your manner of living. Instead of complaining and reacting aggressively to your situation (such as expressing yourself in tone like ‘I don’t have’, I don’t like), you will be happy to confess positively for what you want or like. Negative words attract negative energy. Thus if you want to progress and success in life, mind your words.

It is from the abundance of heart, the mouth will confess. Therefore it is necessary to teach your mind to begin to feel prosperity even when it is not there in life. Though It might be difficult to feel and concentrate on abundance when the circumstance reveals the opposite, yet it is what you feel and you confess in your day to day life, that will attract right kind of people in your life.

This is why John wrote in his letter to the beloved Gaius, It is my desire that you prosper in all what you do even as you have already believed in your heart (3John 1.1-2).

When you believe the testimony of Christ and you seek first the Kingdom of God, your subconscious will feel the happiness and you will attract money and other fulfilling objects which you want in life. The Blessing of the Lord makes rich and He adds no sorrow with It (Prov.10:22). Prosperity is contagious. It will come in as a small blessing and then eventually increase. The only thing you need is to acknowledge its presence.

God is love and it is love that governs the operation of the blessing. No matter where you are in your Christian life, learn more about the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The more you dig deeper in your relationship with Christ, the higher his blessing will grow in your life. This is self-tested. I have seen happiness coming into my life in small bundles when I change my thoughts and prayer towards the kingdom of God. I am on the way of feeling happier and fulfilling financially.

Prosperity In Christ

Is there any law which when followed could lead people to wealth? Internet and book stores are full of thesis on how to make quick money and become rich. Despite all these, if these were scrutinized thoroughly, one will discover that most of them are laid on a very weak foundation.

A Christian way of prosperity that follows the principle of Christ should be different from the manners of the ungodly. The ungodly are ready to do anything to acquire wealth. Most of the strategy is full of corruption and criminal intent. Though few of the wealthy had been able to acquire wealth in a just manner, the majority had not been righteous.

Jesus said in Mattew 6:33: “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you”. It goes that if you want to go the way of Christ, you just have to put heaven first on your to-do list. Everything that it takes to enter into the kingdom of God should be your utmost priority. Jesus said the ungodly are anxious about the earthly things such as acquiring wealth. Children of God are not to be so because God is ready and willing to give them his kingdom.

For the ungodly are anxious to seek after all that they could get in the world such as property, glory, honor and unlimited cash flow. God, however, knows that we as human beings need things to be comfortable on earth and He will give it to us. Therefore we are not to worry ourselves about tomorrow but to let tomorrow takes care of itself.

Many people are wondering, how possible this could be? The Bible verses talk about not craving for things of the world as the unbelievers but to put yourself in the hand of God. And God who knows your need for these things will get them to you. Yes, this is possible as we have seen the miraculous divine provision in an unexpected way in the life of many.

So it is not biblical for anyone who wishes to receive a blessing from God to go about it the way other ungodly would have done, Nevertheless, God expects us to work hard through labor, productions, and services to be able to feed ourselves. (exemption to this are those that labor for the Gospel). Thus it is necessary to have the right mindset to succeed and to be an achiever.

If anyone wants to be financially free, he would do the necessity by laboring and God would make his labor to grow and flourish. Having enough to survive and to provide for oneself free of financial stress depends on each individual’s perception of life. Though happiness cannot be achieved through cash flow, it can provide for the things that could make you happy even if only for a moment.

As the Bible says “money is the answer for everything” (Ecc.10.19), we understand that the key to sufficiency is by having enough money to provide for things. Thus hard-work and smart way of saving can help you achieve financial prosperity. In as much that children of God do not seek to be rich because it leads to diverse kind of temptation, they also need money to get things that can enrich their life (1 Tim. 8-10).
