"There is no danger if our prayer is without words or reflection because the good success of prayer depends neither on words nor on study. It depends upon the simple raising of our minds to God, and the more simple and stripped of feeling it is, the surer it is."

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY
August 15

✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 1:39-58
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever.”
Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

Devotion to Sacred Heart.

The First Friday Devotion is a beloved practice in the Catholic Church dedicated to honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ—a symbol of His infinite love and mercy for humanity.

🕊️ The devotion consists of receiving Holy Communion on the first Friday of each month for nine consecutive months, offered in reparation for sins against the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This practice was inspired by the private revelations given to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century.

❤️ The 12 Promises of the Sacred Heart

Jesus Christ made several promises to those devoted to His Sacred Heart. Among the most well-known:

I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life

I will establish peace in their homes

I will comfort them in all their afflictions

I will be their secure refuge during life and, above all, in death

I will bless every place where an image of My Heart is exposed and honored

I will grant priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts

Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart

I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance

🙏 How to Practice the Devotion

1. Go to Confession (within a reasonable time before the First Friday)

2. Attend Holy Mass on the First Friday

3. Receive Holy Communion worthily

4. Offer your Communion in reparation to the Sacred Heart

5. Repeat for 9 consecutive months

🌿 A Simple Prayer to the Sacred Heart

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I place all my trust in You.
Burn away my sins with Your love,
and fill my heart with peace and mercy.
Help me to live in Your grace always,
and to love others as You have loved me.
Amen.

✨ Why It Matters

This devotion invites us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, encouraging repentance, love, and trust. It’s not just a ritual—it’s a monthly renewal of faith centered on His compassionate Heart.

Prayer to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus,
Thou art concealed in the Holy Eucharist,
And Thou beat for us still.
Now, as then, Thou sayest: “With desire I have desired.”
I worship with all my best love and awe,
With fervent affection,
With my most subdued, most resolved will.
For a while Thou take up Thy abode within me.
O make my heart beat with Thy Heart!
Purify it of all that is earthly,
All that is proud and sensual,
All that is hard and cruel,
Of all perversity,
Of all disorder,
Of all deadness.
So fill it with Thee,
That neither the events of the day,
Nor the circumstances of the time,
May have the power to ruffle it;
But that in Thy love and Thy fear,
It may have peace.
Amen.
