The Egalitarian Kotel Could Be Eliminated— Take Action Now

Legislation advancing in the Israeli Knesset would transfer authority over all prayer at the Kotel to the ultra-Orthodox Chief Rabbinate and make participating in Conservative/Masorti and Reform services punishable by up to seven years in prison. If enacted, it would effectively dismantle the Egalitarian Kotel and deny millions of Jews meaningful access— including holding our B’nai Mitzvot.

It is vital to take two immediate steps:

Persefoni wird unser internationales Team verstärken und gemeinsam mit Maria aus Israel 🇮🇱und Ian aus Portugal 🇵🇹arbeiten. Mit ihrer eigenen Energie, Kreativität und Perspektive bereichert sie unsere pädagogische Gemeinschaft.

Das Braille-System ist eine taktile Darstellung 📖 von alphabetischen und numerischen Symbolen, bei der jeder Buchstabe und jede Zahl sowie musikalische, mathematische und wissenschaftliche Symbole durch sechs Punkte dargestellt werden. Benannt nach seinem Erfinder Louis Braille, der es im Frankreich des 19. Jahrhunderts entwickelte, wird die Brailleschrift von Menschen mit Seheinschränkungen verwendet, um dieselben Bücher und Zeitschriften zu lesen wie diejenigen, die visuelle Schriftarten lesen.📚

Die Entwicklung der hebräischen Brailleschrift ✡️begann in den 1930er Jahren, wurde jedoch erst 1944 abgeschlossen und fand ab den 1950er Jahren breite Anwendung. Die erste Braille-Torah 🕍 wurde 2019 von Rabbi Lenny Sarko in den USA geschaffen, der aufgrund von Diabetes sein Augenlicht verlor.

Braille ist für Bildung, Meinungs- und Ausdrucksfreiheit sowie soziale Inklusion von wesentlicher Bedeutung, wie in Artikel 2 des Übereinkommens über die Rechte von Menschen mit Behinderungen betont wird.

The development of Hebrew Braille ✡️began in the 1930s, but it was not completed until 1944 and started to be widely used from the 1950s onward. The first Braille Torah 🕍was created in 2019 by Rabbi Lenny Sarko in the USA, who began losing his sight due to diabetes.

Braille is essential for education, freedom of expression and opinion, and social inclusion, 📣as emphasized in Article 2 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. ⚖️

In this season of warm lights and familiar sweetness, Hanukkah reminds us that even the smallest flame can help us see the miracles around us.

As we share the flavors and traditions that return to our tables each year, we also make room for the quiet kind of miracle, the one that grows slowly, guided by resilience, courage, and community.

And as we wait for all our stories to feel whole again, including the return of the last fallen hostage still in Gaza, we hold to the belief that light has a way of revealing the path forward.

May this Hanukkah bring sweetness that lingers, strength that carries us, and gentle miracles that meet us exactly where we are.
