7 Ways to Know You Need Spiritual Discernment Before Making a Decision (Take Note of No. 2 & 6)

Not every opportunity is God's will, and not every open door should be entered. Sometimes you need to slow down, pray, and seek wisdom before making a decision.

1. You Feel Pressured to Decide Immediately

Pressure can make you act before you have properly considered the consequences.

«“He that believeth shall not make haste.” — Isaiah 28:16»

2. Your Emotions Are Extremely Strong

Anger, excitement, fear, or desperation can cloud your judgment.

Take Note of No. 2: Never let a temporary emotion make a permanent decision for you.

3. The Decision Conflicts With God's Word

If an option clearly contradicts Scripture, you don't need further confirmation to know it is wrong.

4. You Are Ignoring Wise Counsel

If everyone you trust is raising the same serious concern, don't automatically dismiss them.

«“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” — Proverbs 15:22»

5. You Are Making the Decision Mainly to Please People

Fear of rejection can make you choose what people want instead of what is right.

«“The fear of man bringeth a snare...” — Proverbs 29:25»

6. You Have Not Prayed About It

Don't rush into major decisions without bringing them before God.

Take Note of No. 6: Prayer doesn't guarantee that every decision will be easy, but it puts your heart in a position to seek God's wisdom.

«“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:6»

7. You Are Ignoring Red Flags Because You Want the Outcome

Sometimes we already see warning signs but choose to ignore them because we desperately want something to work.

«“The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.” — Proverbs 14:15»

Final Truth

Discernment is not suspicion. It is the ability to carefully distinguish what is wise, what is unwise, what aligns with God's Word, and what does not.

Before your next major decision:

Pray. Search Scripture. Seek wise counsel. Examine your motives. Don't rush.

Prayer

Father, give me wisdom and discernment. Help me recognize what is from You and what is not. Deliver me from decisions driven by fear, pressure, emotions, or people's opinions. Let Your Word guide my choices, and give me the courage to walk away from anything that does not align with Your will. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

CHRIST'S PRAYER MANDATE.
We are at war!
There is no peace in our streets. There is no peace in our schools, shopping centers, subways, or on airplanes.
Fear stalks the streets of our cities and plagues our nations.
There is a fierce battle raging that is far greater than World War I, World War II, and all the wars ever fought on earth combined.
The magnitude of the fate of untold millions of casualties defies all human understanding.
Every year, millions die and face an eternity without God.
They are confined to outer darkness where “there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:12).
With the world’s population reaching more than 6 billion,one-half have still not been reached with the Gospel!
There is war, famine, economic upheaval, and terrorism in the nations on a level never before experienced.
The world is in turmoil—like a woman in travail. Worldleaders are desperate, seeking solutions to crises and complex problems for which there seems to be no possible solution.
The world, with its desperate needs, awaits deliverance. In its hopelessness and despair, it waits for the only power capable of answering its needs: the intercession of God’s people!

“Remember the marks of a true intercessor: a sense of human need, a Christlike love in the heart, a consciousness of personal impotence, faith in the power of prayer, courage to persevere in spite of refusal, and the assurance of an abundant reward.” Andrew Murray

Our God, who is merciful and longsuffering, desires to pour out His blessings. He sees the pain and suffering, the sin and despair holding multitudes in bo***ge, and His Father’s heart
is grieved. He paid the ultimate price to break the chains of sin and death off mankind. He has provided untold blessings and everything man needs and is ready and willing to release all He has provided.
Christ defeated satan and destroyed the power of death and has placed in the hands of His Church the keys to His Kingdom. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father,where He is involved in unceasing intercession for His people.
Through the Holy Spirit, Christ has given us power over all the power of satan.He has united us with Himself and the Father as one.
He has brought us into divine partnership with Himself and bound Himself to us by His Word.
By His Spirit, He has given us unlimited divine access to the Father.
He has given us His delegated power and authority through His name to preach the Gospel, heal the sick, cast out devils,
and raise the dead.
And, He has chosen us to be the channel through which He releases His power upon earth through our intercession!

John Wesley has well spoken, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” God has limited His work on earth and made it dependent upon the prayers of His people. The measure of His power and blessing on earth is determined by the measure of intercession arising before His Throne.

Through intercession we pray into being God’s will on earth as it is in Heaven.
In Christ’s Sermon on the Mount, He said that this is how we are to pray:
“…Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be
Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven…” (Matthew 6:9-10).
Christ has placed in our hands the awesome responsibilityand privilege of bringing His kingdom down to earth through intercession. In His final moments with His disciples He said,“Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you” (John 15:16).
Christ, who is seated at the right hand of the Father in a position of power and authority over all power and principalities in Heaven and on earth, intends to use the prayers of His Church to fulfill His purposes in the nations before He returns. He said, “I have chosen and ordained you!”
He intends to release His power through our intercession into our cities and nations to bring in the great end-time harvest of souls.

“Intercession is the most perfect form of prayer, in that it is the prayer that Christ prays on His throne.” Andrew Murray

He plans to use the anointed prayers of His people to wage war in the heavenlies and tear down and destroy the strongholds of the enemy that are holding entire people groups, cities, and nations in bo***ge.
He has given us His power and authority—all of Heaven is at our disposal—and He has promised whatever we ask in the power and authority of His name, He will do it!
