PROPOSED ROAD CONSTRUCTION APPEAL TO THE TARABA STATE GOVERNMENT

Subject: Construction of Mararaba–Baissa–Abong Road

We respectfully appeal to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to give priority to the construction and rehabilitation of the Mararaba–Baissa–Abong Road.

This road is a vital link that connects many communities, farmers, traders, students, patients, and other road users. Its poor condition causes hardship, delays economic activities, increases transportation costs, and limits access to schools, healthcare, and markets.

We believe that constructing this road will:

- Improve transportation and road safety.
- Boost agriculture and local businesses.
- Create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
- Enhance access to education and healthcare.
- Strengthen connectivity between Mararaba, Baissa, Abong, and neighboring communities.

We sincerely urge the Taraba State Government to include the Mararaba–Baissa–Abong Road in its ongoing and future infrastructure development plans. This project will bring lasting benefits to the people and contribute significantly to the development of southern Taraba State.

A good road is a pathway to development. We respectfully appeal for urgent government attention to this important project.

GOVERNOR AGBU KEFAS MOVES TO HEAL APC DIVISIONS, SEEKS UNITED FRONT FOR TARABA'S FUTURE

By Hassan Garba

With the dust gradually settling on the All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses and primary elections in Taraba State, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has embarked on a deliberate effort to heal divisions within the party, strengthen internal cohesion, and reposition the APC for future political success.

The Governor made the move during a reconciliation dinner held at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, where party leaders, elected officials, aspirants, and stakeholders gathered to reaffirm their commitment to unity and collective progress.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Kefas acknowledged that the period leading to his defection to the APC, the party congresses, and the recently concluded primary elections was a demanding political season that produced varying experiences and emotions among members.

He noted that political decisions, regardless of how well they are intended, can sometimes leave people feeling hurt, misunderstood, or excluded. However, he stressed that none of the decisions taken throughout the process was meant to humiliate anyone or suppress legitimate political aspirations.

The Governor appealed to members who may still feel aggrieved by the outcome of the primaries to let go of past grievances and join hands in building a stronger APC and a more prosperous Taraba State.

He equally urged those who emerged victorious in the primaries to carry everyone along, emphasizing that true leadership is demonstrated through inclusiveness, humility, and respect for all party members.

Describing the APC in Taraba as one united family, Governor Kefas cautioned against the formation of camps and warned that bitterness, political vengeance, and unnecessary suspicion could only weaken the party's chances of success. He maintained that unity remains the strongest foundation for electoral victory and effective governance.

Governor Kefas also reaffirmed that his administration remains open to sincere advice and constructive criticism, noting that every stakeholder has a vital role to play in promoting reconciliation and sustaining peace within the party.

According to him, no election can be won by one individual alone, but through the collective efforts of a united, organised, and disciplined political family. He therefore encouraged all aspirants who did not secure the party's ticket to close ranks with the leadership and work together for the common good of the party and the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Professor Josiah Sabo Kente, explained that the reconciliation dinner was organised to appreciate the sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment demonstrated by party stakeholders throughout the just-concluded APC primary elections.

Professor Kente commended members for ensuring that the congresses and primaries were conducted peacefully and described the gathering as an opportunity to renew confidence, strengthen internal unity, and prepare the party for future electoral contests.

The reconciliation dinner provided a platform for dialogue, reflection, and renewed commitment, as stakeholders resolved to put political differences behind them and work collectively towards the growth of the APC in Taraba State.

Beyond the dinner itself, the gathering underscored the importance of reconciliation in party politics and highlighted Governor Agbu Kefas' determination to foster unity, inclusiveness, and shared purpose as the APC prepares for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

GOV DR AGBU KEFAS CALLS FOR UNITY AS APC STAKEHOLDERS HOLD RECONCILIATION DINNER IN JALINGO

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to set aside their differences arising from the recent party congresses and primary elections and work together to build a stronger and more united party ahead of future elections.

Governor Kefas made the appeal while speaking at a reconciliation dinner with APC stakeholders held at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

The Governor noted that the period leading to his defection to the APC, the party congresses, and the recently concluded primary elections were politically demanding and left many members with varying experiences and emotions.

He acknowledged that political decisions, no matter how well intended, could sometimes leave people feeling hurt, misunderstood, or excluded. However, he stressed that throughout the process, his intention was never to humiliate anyone or suppress legitimate political aspirations.

Governor Agbu Kefas appealed to party members who might still feel aggrieved to let go of the past and join hands in building both the party and Taraba State. He also urged those who emerged victorious in the primaries to carry everyone along and avoid actions capable of creating further divisions.

Describing the APC in Taraba as one united family, the Governor said no member should regard another as belonging to a different camp. He called on party faithful to reject bitterness, political vengeance, and unnecessary suspicion, emphasizing that unity remains the party's greatest strength.

Dr. Agbu Kefas further stated that his administration remains open to sincere advice and constructive criticism, adding that every stakeholder has an important role to play in the reconciliation process. According to him, electoral victory cannot be achieved by one individual alone but by a united, organized, and committed party.

He therefore appealed to all aspirants who did not secure the party's ticket to put the outcome behind them, close ranks with other members, and contribute to building a formidable APC capable of winning future elections.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Prof Josiah Sabo Kente, said the reconciliation dinner was organized to appreciate the sacrifices and commitment of party stakeholders during the just concluded APC primary elections.

Prof Kente commended party members for ensuring that the various processes were conducted peacefully and described the gathering as an opportunity to renew unity, strengthen internal cohesion, and prepare the party for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The event attracted prominent APC leaders, party executives, elected officials, and other stakeholders from across Taraba State, all united in reaffirming their commitment to the growth and success of the party.

🇳🇬Oyo Abduction: Senate Cautions Makinde Over Demand for UN Probe

The Senate has cautioned Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over his call for a United Nations-led investigation into the abduction of pupils and teachers in the state.

Makinde, while formally assuming responsibility for the welfare, rehabilitation and education of the 45 teachers and pupils rescued after spending 56 days in captivity on Monday, stated that Nigerians deserved a full account of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The governor explained that the call for international scrutiny was aimed at ensuring accountability rather than discrediting Nigerian institutions.

Armed bandits had on May 15, 2026, attacked three schools in Yawota and Ahoro Esienle communities in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, abducting 39 pupils and six teachers.

During Tuesday’s plenary, the Red Chamber cautioned Makinde against making statements capable of undermining the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies in tackling terrorism and kidnapping.

The warning formed part of resolutions adopted after the Senate considered a motion sponsored by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, on the successful rescue of the victims as well as the sacrifices made by security personnel during the operation.

The Senate commended the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies and other security institutions for securing the release of the victims after more than 50 days in captivity.

Lawmakers also praised President Bola Tinubu for directing security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the unconditional release of the victims, who were abducted by heavily armed terrorists on May 15, 2026.

According to the Senate, the rescue operation, which culminated in the victims’ release on July 10, 2026, also led to the arrest of eight suspected terrorists, while several others were killed.

The upper chamber noted that the operation demonstrated the growing professionalism, operational efficiency and inter-agency collaboration among the security agencies involved.

The Senate, however, lamented the loss of security personnel during the operation.

It identified the deceased as Lieutenant F.A. Isaac of the Nigerian Army, Private Silas Musa of the 81 Battalion of the Nigerian Army and Sergeant Abena John Jerome of the Nigeria Police Force. It also recognised Lance Corporal Adamu Hussain, who sustained injuries during the rescue mission.

Lawmakers further expressed sadness over the death of one of the abducted teachers while in captivity but described the successful rescue of the remaining victims as a major achievement that had restored hope among Nigerians, especially parents and school communities.

The Senate urged the Federal Government to ensure the prompt payment of statutory death benefits, insurance claims, pensions and other entitlements due to the families of the fallen security personnel.

It also called on the government to improve the welfare, training, equipment and operational capacity of members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.

The lawmakers further urged the Federal Government to sustain and intensify military and intelligence operations against terrorists, kidnappers, bandits and other criminal groups by providing modern equipment, advanced surveillance technology, improved intelligence capabilities, better logistics and enhanced welfare packages for security personnel.

The Senate also called on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of other Nigerians still being held captive across the country.

During the debate, Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, cautioned Makinde over his call for the United Nations to investigate the abduction. The caution was seconded by Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District.

In its resolution, the Senate urged the governor to avoid statements capable of undermining the efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies in addressing insecurity in the country.

đź“– BIBLE STUDY MESSAGE

Topic: Hold On to the Way of Righteousness

Text: Job 17:9 (KJV)
"The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger."

This verse reminds us that those who live righteously should never give up, no matter the trials they face. A righteous person remains faithful to God, trusting Him through every challenge. God calls His children to walk in holiness, obedience, and integrity.

Having "clean hands" symbolizes a life that is pure, honest, and pleasing to God. As we continue to seek Him and turn away from sin, He gives us greater spiritual strength each day. Our faith grows stronger, our hope becomes firmer, and we are empowered to overcome every obstacle.

No matter what you are facing today, do not abandon the path of righteousness. Keep following the Lord with a sincere heart. He will strengthen you, guide you, and help you finish your journey victoriously.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to remain faithful and steadfast in Your ways. Give us clean hearts and clean hands, and strengthen us day by day to live according to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
