This is a forum for sons and daughters, friends and love ones of the people of Binshua village in Donga Mantung Division A BRIEF HISTORY OF BINSHUA VILLAGE
Binshua Village popularly known as Baraki is one of the villages located on the Nkambe plateau in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. It is located on longitude 10.66667 and latitude 6.63334 north of the equator. The Nk

ambe plateau is occupied by a group of people who claim diverse origins. These include the Warr Clan, the Tang Clan, and the Yaah Clan, which all make up the Wimbum tribe. It is noteworthy to mention here that among the three Wimbum Clans, the Warr does not directly claim Tikar origin; rather they claim to have originated from MBIRBOH, a pool between Lower and Upper Mbot. Thus, they claim to be the origins (Sons of the Soil) of the Nkambe plateau. The Warr Clan is made up of thirteen (13) Villages, namely; Mbot Village (whose Fon is the clan head), Binshua Village, Nkambe town, Wat Village, Njap Village, Saah Village, Chup Village, Kungi Village, Sop Village, Mbaa Village, Ngwangri Village, Njirong Village, and, Ntawmbaw Village. Binshua is one of the biggest Villages of the Warr Clan with an estimated population of circa 10, 000 inhabitants as per 2015. It is bordered to the south by Binka and Tabenken villages, to the west by Njap village, to the north by Nkambe town and Njema, and to the east Binjeng and Bih villages. It has three primary schools, (GS Binshua, CS Binshua, and CBC Binshua), and two secondary schools (GSS Binshua and St. Marcelin Comprehensive College). It has tap water supply and electricity. It has a health Centre called St. Patrick Health Centre, named after Mr. Samba Patrick Mbunwe who initiated the project of a community health centre in Binshua. The Catholic Church took over the health centre after his death. The Catholic Church intends to construct a full-fledged hospital in the village. Feasibility studies have been carried out and land allocated at Mbenkfu for the construction of the hospital. Information from the Bishop House in Kumbo states that Binshua will soon be transformed into a Quasi Parish of the Catholic Church. It is located along the Bamenda-Nkambe trunk “A” (Ring) road. It is twelve kilometres away from Nkambe town-the administrative headquarters of Donga Mantung Division. The inhabitants live mainly on subsistence agriculture. They grow maize, a variety of beans, cocoyam, plantains, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, vegetables, Arabica coffee, colanuts, etc. The men rear cattle thanks to the vast grassland which offers limitless opportunities for livestock farming. In addition to rearing goats, and fowls which play a unique role in the cultural life of the people, they also keep pigs and cows. The village is covered with a sea of eucalyptus trees. The inhabitants are a dynamic and highly cultured people. For convenient sake and easy administration, Binshua Village is divided into four main quarters, namely; Boamoh which is the seat of the village, hosting the Fon (Chief), Kumanji, Mulah and Ntungap.

St. Patrick Catholic Hospital Binshua was formally handed over to its management on Wednesday May 13, 2026, marking the completion of a newly constructed and fully equipped health facility intended to serve communities in the area.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the Vicar General of the Bishop’s House, Kumbo Diocese. Civil, religious, and traditional authorities attended alongside residents of Binshua village, who gathered to mark the opening of the hospital to patients.

The project was made possible through land donation, and cooperation from local residents, according to organizers. Officials acknowledged the roles of the Parish Priest of St. Joseph Parish Binshua and Bishop George Nkouh of Kumbo Diocese in bringing the initiative to fruition.

With the doors now open, the facility is ready to receive patients and provide medical services to the surrounding population.

ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC HOSPITAL, BINSHUA SET FOR FULL OPERATIONS MAY 13, 2026

A new chapter in healthcare delivery begins in Binshua on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, with the inauguration of the newly constructed St. Patrick Catholic Hospital at the Mbenkfu neighbourhood.

The fully equipped, full-service hospital will be formally handed over to management during the inauguration ceremony. A resident medical doctor and a team of trained health professionals are already on site and will commence services immediately.

This is not a clinic or health centre, but a full-fledged hospital designed to deliver comprehensive, quality care to residents of Donga Mantung Division and beyond. Its capacity and equipment are comparable to established health institutions such as St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital Shisong, Banso Baptist Hospital (BBH) Kumbo, and Mbingo Baptist Hospital.

The project has been hailed as a milestone for the area. Credit goes to the Parish Priest of St. Joseph Parish, Binshua, and His Lordship, Bishop George Nkuo of Kumbo Diocese, whose vision and drive made the facility a reality.

2,000 ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY TREES PLANTED TO PROTECT THE BINSHUA WATER CATCHMENT AREA

Two thousand trees, generously donated by Farmer Tanto El, have been planted by the youths of Binshua village. The exercise was ably coordinated by Mr. Method-rol Adamu of Ntungap quarter.

To further safeguard the catchment, the area has also been fenced to prevent stray cattle from causing damage.

Our sincere thanks go to Farmer Tanto, Limbi Tata, and the entire team for this laudable initiative.

Water is life. He who protects water, protects life.

WHEN BROTHERS BECOME BUTCHERS: THE AGONY OF MBUM-LAND

OH MY GOD! THIS IS SHEER WICKEDNESS!

We know their names. We know their mothers’ voices. We know the exact slope of their shoulders because we grew up pressed against them in classrooms with no doors.

They were not “them.” They were us.

We drew water from the same streams. We stole mangoes from the same trees and ran from the same angry farmers. We wiped each other’s bloody knees. We wept at the same funerals. We ululated at the same wedding. Joy was never yours or mine, it was ours. Pain was never solitary, it was a weight we lifted together, hand over calloused hand.

And now?

Now they return to the land we share, but not as brothers. As invaders.

Our maize, the maize our grandmothers planted with prayers lies broken, trampled into the mud by hooves they guide on purpose. Their cows and sheep do not stray. They are led, deliberately, into the stomach of our survival. They eat our hunger into being. They leave behind dung where green should grow.

They do not lower their eyes when strangers come to claim our soil. They stand beside them. They translate for them. They point to our houses.

And then the guns came.

They kill us without mercies. No stutter. No flinch. No memory of the days we taught each other to whistle. The boys who once carried our books now carry rifles. The girls who once plaited our daughters’ hair now walk past our corpses without pausing.

They have become beasts. Not by accident. Not by madness. By choice.

They mistook our open compound for an empty compound. They mistook our outstretched hand for a hand too weak to make a fist.

Wimbum people, where did we go wrong? Was it the day we gave them the last cup of corn? Was it the night we covered them with our only blanket? Was it the moment we believed “neighbour” meant “forever”?

How did we get here; from shared fires to funeral pyres?
How do we come out of it when every road out is watched, and every road back is mined with memory?
Shall we ever break bread again, or has the table itself been burned?

The future is not a sunrise. It is a closed door. It is a field of stumps. It is Mbum-land with her children gone.

Watch this video to the end. Do not scroll past. Do not protect your heart. Let it break. Let it bleed. You will cry for your homeland until your throat is raw. You will weep for Mbum-land until weeping feels like the only prayer left. The video may look foreign but it is equally happening in Mbum-land before our eyes.

God, where are you?
The earth is drinking our blood.
Can you see us?

POPE LEO XIV RELEASES DOVES OF PEACE IN BAMENDA, DRAWS MASSIVE CROWDS AMID CALLS FOR CALM

Pope Leo XIV released white doves into the sky over Bamenda on Thursday April 26, 2026 as a symbol of peace, drawing cheers from a packed crowd that filled the city’s streets.

The pontiff, who prayed fervently for an end to the conflict in Cameroon’s North West and South West Regions, made the gesture after celebrating Mass at Bamenda Cathedral in Big Mankon.

His visit triggered a rare moment of unity: both government officials and separatist leaders urged residents to turn out en masse to welcome him. Roads into parts of the North West Region that separatists had blocked for months were opened to allow free movement into the city.

"Thank you, Holy Father. May Bamenda and Cameroon once more know peace," a local official said as the crowd responded with chants and song.

The Pope’s stop in Bamenda marks a significant moment in the region, which has been gripped by armed conflict since 2016. For one day, the fighting paused.
