TOPIC: God Has Divine Prescriptions for Marriage
TEXT: Matthew 19:6 (NIV) – “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

🔹 Devotional:
Marriage is not merely a social contract or human arrangement—it is a divine covenant established by God Himself. From the beginning, God's intention for marriage has been clear: unity, love, and a shared purpose under His guidance.
In Matthew 19:6, Jesus reaffirms God's original design for marriage. He reminds us that when a man and woman come together in marriage, they become "one flesh." This union is sacred and not to be taken lightly. God joins them together, and no human effort should attempt to separate what He has ordained.

🔹 God's Prescriptions for Marriage Include:
1. Commitment: Marriage is a lifetime covenant, not a temporary arrangement. God expects spouses to stay faithful and committed through all seasons.
2. Mutual Love and Respect: Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25), and wives must respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33). Love must be intentional, sacrificial, and enduring.
3. Unity and Oneness: The "one flesh" principle means physical, emotional, and spiritual unity. It calls for transparency, communication, and shared goals.
4. Forgiveness and Grace: No marriage is perfect. God's prescription includes extending grace and forgiveness, just as He forgives us.
5. God-Centeredness: A healthy marriage puts God at the centre. Praying together, studying God’s Word, and serving Him as a couple strengthens the bond.
