Topic: THE PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDE OUR GIVING
God is the sovereign Lord of all things and everyone.
If we discuss principles, we are referring to fundamental truths that guide our actions.
As we proceed, I encourage each of you to reflect on these principles, and I expect everyone to participate in the discussion.
1. BE GENEROUS: Generosity is not measured by the amount, but by the manner in which we give. To give generously means to cultivate a spirit of liberality. What does it mean to be generous? It entails being kind, unselfish, and willing to share our time, resources, and money without expecting anything in return. A generous person gives without condition. When we give, we should not expect praise or reciprocation; instead, we should give for God's glory.
โข Expect nothing in return when you give.
โข A generous person prioritizes others.
2. GIVE REGULARLY: Regular giving is a hallmark of a true giver. As we begin each day, let us prioritize giving. Plan to give, and as we understand these principles, our lives will be enriched.
1 Corinthians 16:2...
When we discuss principles, we refer to guidelines that govern our actions.
3. GIVE PROPORTIONATELY: This involves assessing our means and giving accordingly. Balance is key; we must understand our capacity to give and plan our giving.
2 Corinthians 8:11-12.
Before setting up a plan to give, consider your means, and let your giving reflect your resources.
4. GIVE SACRIFICIALLY: This means surrendering something valuable for the benefit of others or a higher purpose.
2 Corinthians 8:5.
As children of God, sacrificial giving should be a lifestyle, a culture that reflects our commitment to Him.
5. GIVE SECRETLY: Do not announce your giving or boast about it.
Matthew 6:2-4.
Let your giving be humble and without fanfare.
6. GIVE CHEERFULLY:
2 Corinthians 9:7-8.
Our actions should be characterized by joy. Give with a willing heart, accompanied by happiness and gratitude.
7. GIVE STRATEGICALLY:
2 Corinthians 9:12-15.
When we give, let us give to those who will value and utilize our gift effectively. Our giving should be thoughtful and long-term.
8. GIVE WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE:
1Corinthians 16:3-4.
Our giving should be marked by integrity and freedom from guilt.
Giving is a treasured opportunity to touch heaven with our substance.
