LOVE SERIES DAY 2
SUBTOPIC: WHO IS AN ENEMY?
Beloved brethren of ECCR Deido,
as we continue this teaching, we must confront a truth many avoid:
Do you know that you can be your own enemy?
Many Christians pray aggressively against “enemies” without discernment. Yet Scripture warns us that not every opposition is external, and not every battle is meant to be fought with destruction.
A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.”
(Matthew 10:36)
Now hear this with wisdom and sobriety:
If you are praying for your enemies to die, and your so-called enemies are your mother, son, daughter, uncle, husband, or wife, and you do not even know it, then you may be praying against your own destiny.
If such prayers are answered, you will be the first to suffer.
When sickness strikes them, you will struggle in hospitals.
When death strikes, you will carry the pain.
When problems increase, you will move from one church to another, from one prayer group to another, saying, “My family is under attack”, while the attack began with careless words and ignorant prayers.
At that stage, you start praying for family deliverance, family restoration, family peace yet you are the one who released destruction instead of love.
This is why Scripture warns:
“The tongue has the power of life and death.”
(Proverbs 18:21)
Prayer without wisdom becomes self-sabotage.
Jesus never commanded us to pray for death. He commanded us to pray for repentance, transformation, and salvation.
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
(Matthew 5:44)
Sometimes the real enemy is not outside—it is ignorance, bitterness, anger, and lack of discernment within.
“Above all else, guard your heart.”
(Proverbs 4:23)
At this point, you may think you are fighting enemies, while in truth you are fighting yourself.
God is wise. He sees beyond emotions. He knows what will heal you, protect you, and preserve your future.
African wisdom says:
“The knife that cuts the finger is held by the same hand.”
FINAL EXHORTATION
Before you pray, discern.
Before you speak, understand.
Before you curse, remember Christ.
Not every enemy is meant to fall.
Some are meant to repent.
Some are meant to change.
Some are meant to be saved
Lord Jesus,
deliver us from ignorant prayers.
Heal us from bitterness disguised as spirituality.
Give us wisdom to pray for life, not destruction.
Teach us to love as You love,
and to fight our battles Your way.
In Jesus’ name. Amen. Deido.
