This evening during service, the Lord gave a sharp and sobering rebuke, first to me, and to anyone who finds themselves in a similar state.
He asked, *“Do you realize there are people who would have been raptured yesterday if I had come—yet if I came today, they would not be ready?”*
Think about that. There were people more prepared for His coming yesterday than they are right now. What an irony and how tragic.
Then the Lord made it personal:
*“Peter, do you know there was a time you burned hotter for Me than you do now? A time when your love, your reverence, and your readiness for My coming were stronger? But now, you have allowed the pollution of the times to make you complacent.”*
He drew our attention to Matthew 25 and the parable of the ten virgins. It’s important to notice: the foolish virgins once had lamps that were lit. They once had fire. They once carried light.
But that was not enough.
The requirement was to **meet the Bridegroom with a burning lamp at the moment He comes.**
Your past fire is not enough.
Your earlier prayers are not enough.
Your former hunger for the Word is not enough.
The real question is: **What is your present state? Are you ready for His coming—right now?**
On that day, no excuse will stand.
When the foolish virgins realized their lamps had gone out and tried to borrow oil, the wise virgins told them something profound: *“Go to those who sell and buy for yourselves.”*
The ones who sold oil had always been available but there is a time when buying makes sense, and a time when buying becomes useless.
By the time they returned, the door was shut, and the Lord said, *“I do not know you.”*
Beloved, everything needed to stay burning is available now.
So buy now, while it matters.
Pray now, while it matters.
Fast now, while it matters.
Read the Word now, while it matters.
Fellowship now, while it matters.
Love your brethren now, while it matters.
Do not let the day of the Lord meet you unaware. Do not let Him say, *“I do not know you.”*
Stay burning.
