“Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.”Isaiah 51:2
There is a special grace upon the Pathfinder, the one who is willing to go where others have not gone, begin what others have not begun, and believe God when there is little or no human support around them. Abraham is a picture of this spirit. God called him alone, but He did not intend for him to remain alone.
From one man came a nation; from one response came a movement; from one journey came generations. This is the mystery of divine beginnings: God may start something with you before He sends people to you. Do not despise your season of walking alone. Sometimes God separates a person from the crowd because the path they are carrying has never been walked before.
Noah built an Ark when no one had ever done, Moses caved a path for Israel's deliverance, David walked from being a shepherd boy unto becoming a king according to God's order. All these men were pathfinders, they did things uniquely as no other person had done. A revolutionary leader is a pathfinder, he caves the path for the rest to follow.
The pathfinder must therefore learn not to measure the value of his assignment by the number of people presently helping him. Some people will only recognize a path after you have walked it. There are people who will not care when you are building, will not stand with you when you are struggling, and may only appear when the evidence of your obedience becomes visible.
Do not become bitter because of such neglect; become stronger in God. Your assignment is not to force people to believe in what God told you. Your assignment is to walk faithfully until the path becomes visible. Hebrews 11:8 says Abraham “obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” That is the courage of a pathfinder. He does not need everyone to understand before he obeys.
He carries the burden before others see the beauty, pays the price before others enjoy the harvest, and establishes foundations upon which others will eventually build. If you have served people who did not serve you, cared for people who did not care for you, supported people who did not support you, do not allow disappointment to kill your pioneering spirit. You may be the first chapter of a story that God intends thousands to read.
Therefore, arise with the spirit of the pathfinder. Micah 2:13 declares, “The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate.” There are people God has appointed to go before others, to break resistance, create possibilities, establish patterns, open doors, and make the way easier for those coming behind them.
Your loneliness may be preparation for leadership; your lack of support may be training you to draw strength from God; your difficult beginnings may become someone else's testimony of possibility. Do not stop because nobody clapped. Build anyway. Pray anyway.
Serve anyway. Start anyway. One day, those who could not see the path will walk upon the road you created by faith. And when they come, do not resent them for arriving late, receive them as the harvest of your obedience. The true pathfinder does not live for applause; he lives to make a way where there was no way.
1. I receive the Spirit of the Pathfinder! I have courage to begin, grace to continue, and strength to finish what God has committed into my hands.
2. I will not be discouraged by lack of support, recognition, or immediate results. God is with me, and my obedience will create a path for many.
3. I declare that what begins with me shall not end with me. My life, labour, vision, and sacrifice shall become a road upon which many generations will walk.
