Is it a sin?

As a young Christian I have always had a severe battle within me about so many things that are considered not clearly spelled out in the bible if it is a sin or not. I often ask myself is smoking cigarette a sin? Is sport betting a sin? Is clubbing a sin? And many other questions. Most of these things are not clearly written in the bible if it is a sin or not. Beside it might not be a sin but should a Christian indulge in such? These are issues that most Christians struggle with daily and trusting God for direction.I came to understand that the Bible contains answer to every question we may have , we just need to open our hearts in readiness for God to teach us. Behold we are going to get a brief answer to this questions which I believe will be of great benefits. For matters that are considered obscured as to whether a Christian should do it or not, I have just one major scripture to address that
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
The real question to ask about clubbing is: can pass all of this test above? Anything you want to do should be examined according to this parameters and after a good screen, then you will know if it will give God glory or not. We must bear in mind that we were bought by a price and that our lives are not ours but we live for Christ. It is not about what pleases you but it is what pleases God (Gal 2:20, 1cor 10:23, 1cor6:20). We must therefore in view of all this things ask ourselves the question of if what we do glorifies Christ in anyway. God is a jealous God and His glory He shares with no one. It is not about if it is good or bad but it is about who takes the glory at the end of the course! If it is God, then go for it but if it is not God, flee away.

The virtuous mind
Living out a live for Christ nowadays seems to be very impossible with the rate at which the devil is overtaking the world in a very cunning and subtle manner. Most of us who call ourselves Christians are getting conform to the patterns of the world which turns to pull us away from the mind of Christ. Nevertheless, the Bible urge us to be on our guards against the things of the world (Romans 12:2, 1 peter 5:8, 1John 2:15). Many of us Christians in this age find it very difficult to maintain a virtuous mind in Christ because of the numerous devices of the devil to pull us down.
What is the virtuous mind?
This is having the mind of Christ. This incorporate Christ' likeness, goal, mission, image and glory. Apostle Paul admonishes us to bear the mind of Christ in us (Philippians 2:1-18). This encouragement comes to us because from the time we lose the mind of Christ, we will begin to live according to the principles of this earth and not God' own. Let us strive to maintain the mind of Christ in everything we do. Draw closer to God, study His word, pray continually and spend time consistently in His presence.

Salvation part 1

We are all invited to undertake this journey with me on the subject of SALVATION. So many people talk about salvation nowadays but so sadly very few of them know and have truly experienced this salvation in their lives.
Salvation is one of the most important concept in the live of a Christian that requires key consideration and understanding to the least detail. The Bible from Genesis to Revelation is a storyline that is centered on SALVATION. An indepth study of the Bible from the fall of man up to the coming of Christ and the works of Christ after His resurrection shows a clear print of God's salvific agenda for mankind. Each and every portion of the Bible shows God's act of salvation towards sinful man in every aspect of life. If the Bible could be captured in a single statement, then I will likely put it as "GOD'S RIGHTEOUS ACT OF SALVATION TOWARDS SINFUL MAN". Flipping through the pages of the Bible, it is so much evident how we see a righteous God reaching out to helpless sinful man. This series is therefore aim at painting a clear image of the concept of SALVATION in the simplest manner for a every Christian to have clear understanding of what it is all about. It is worth mentioning that salvation is a broad concept and this series will provide just a brief resume.
The next part of this series will get to examine the concept of salvation properly.

It is very sad to live in a generation where we make the highest noise calling on God but being so ignorant about who this God is. This is the generation where we spend hours, days and sometimes months in payers and fasting but yet we have no or little results. Have you ever pose yourself the question of why you pray for a lot of things? Why do we desire a lot of things? Why do we lack so much? The answer is evident, we lack faith and clear understanding of the word of God ( Matthew 6:25-34, Hosea 4:6a). My advice to you is that you should avoid bringing to God too many prayer points about your life but get intimate with him and the results will be evident.

If the significance of the coming of Jesus is limited to the natural and physical things we see around us then it was unnecessary for him to come because some were well to do without Christ in terms of economic and social welfare... Do not attempt to limit the impact of Jesus's coming on what we see around us in our day to day activities. It is far beyond that, the prime reason for Jesus's coming was to give us salvation. All the other thing are secondary or derivatives from the prime purpose. (Luke 19:10)

The gospel part 3

After looking at the what the gospel is in part 2 of this series, we will then move on to analyze the three responses that we have to take as a step signifying acceptance to this good news
1) Admit and accept. We have to admit that we are all sinners and that we fell short of God's glory (Romans 3:23, 1John 1:8), afterward, we have to accept the free gift of God to us which is Jesus Christ that was given for the sake of mankind ( John 1:12)
2) Believe. The next response to this good news is to believe in the One that is able to save us from perishing and who can draw us back to the Father (John 3:16). Believing means to put your trust in Jesus and submitting to him in full assurance that He is LORD over your life and that only Him can help you out of the yoke of sin
3) Confess. The last step as a response is to confess your sin and express your faith in God (Romans 10:9-10). We have to confess our sins to God and call on Him to pardon us and we equally have to confess our faith in God as He is the only one that can save us.

In summary, this is what is known as the good news of Christ. It is indeed a good news because of its transformational impact that it has on wicked man bringing him back to God's image and that fellowship lost in the beginning because of sin.
If you have never taken out time to confess Jesus as Lord of your life, this write up presents you an opportunity to receive Jesus into your life, believe in Him and confess Him as LORD. please take out time to meditate on this and scan your live and see of it is worth living without Christ. I bet you, live out of God is a hell. Receive Jesus Christ today and escape the penalty of sin and judgment on the last day ( Revelation 20:11-15)

The gospel part 2

What is the good news?
The gospel is define as the good news of Christ unto mankind. The question here is what is that good news? The good news is that man was created by God and loved by God (Gen 1:27). Along the line, man disobeyed God and was separated from Him (Gen 3:23). After the separation (spiritual dead, no fellowship with God), man in every attempt tried to get closer to God through the burning of sacrifices for sins and living a righteous life but to no avail. This is because based on our own strength and power, we cannot be holy. God been a merciful Father therefore looked upon man and extended His compassion over us by coming to save us by Himself in the person of His Son Jesus (John 3:16, Phil 2:5-8). The dead of Jesus on the cross is a substitional sacrifice. This means that Jesus came and took our place because we had to die because of our sin ( Romans 6:23). Instead of us dying, he replaced us by carrying our sins on Him and dying for us ( 2cor 5:21, Col 2:14) His substitutional sacrifice paved the way for us to be reunited with the Father once again by passing through Him (John 14:6). Now that we were loved by God, separated from Him as a result of sin, He sent His Son to come and die for us, what is our response to Him?
There are three things we have to do as a response to this gracious act of God to man. Stay tune to the next part of this series

The gospel part 1
What is the gospel?
The word gospel is gotten from the Greek word euagelion which is translated to mean good news. The gospel therefore means good news.
Contextually, the gospel in the Christian world can be defined as God's divine grace and mercy that has been freely given to humanity through his beloved son Jesus Christ and seen in every facet of his life from his birth, ministry, Crucifixion, death, resurrection and ascension to glory. (Luke 2:6-7, Matthew 4:17, John 19:1-42, Mark 15: 33-41, Luke 24: 1-12, Luke 24:50-53) This definition points out every element of the gospel and it was so designed by God that all of these elements should be found in one man called Jesus Christ(John3:16). The gospel in order words is an account of the life of Jesus Christ here on earth from His childhood, His growth, His ministry, His messages and His commission to his disciples (church). These account of Jesus' life is captured in the synoptic gospel and equally John's gospel.
As seen above, the gospel is God's good news to mankind and we are going to examine what that good news is in the second part of this gospel series.
