FROM BALLYMENA, UNITED KINGDOM TO ASAMANKESE, GOLD COAST. (THE MISSIONARY JOURNEY OF PASTOR JAMES MCKEOWN & HIS WIFE MRS. SOPHIA MCKEOWN).
The genesis was rather obscurity - a poor, semi-educated Northern Irish tram - driver - turned preacher arrives in the Gold Coast, part of the then "White Man's Grave" in March 1937.
He settles in the remote little forest town of Asamankese. Worn down by sickness, forsaken by his hosts, ostracized by colleagues, betrayed by friends, He rose up in the mighty power of God and fought the good fight and kept the faith, the result of today's CHURCH OF PENTECOST.
MISSIONS
A religious assignment which involves the idea of sending a person to a particular destination for the purpose of the evangelism of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, resurrected and the soon coming Lord.
It is a continuous cycle of outreach, evangelizing, discipleship making, Church planting, Christian lifestyle, leadership, ministry and offering aid to the believers who are handicapped or vulnerable.
A person sent to mission field is a missionary.
Normally through prayers, visions, revelations, prophecies and the prompting of the Holy Spirit, the church appoint passionate, gifted, spirit filled ministers to missions across the globe.
Globally there are more than 100 missionaries of the Church of Pentecost scattered over 108 countries doing external mission work.
