True Happiness

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward ...
Luke 12:42

It is not wrong for men to possess riches. But the Bible warns that money cannot buy happiness! Money cannot buy true pleasure. Money cannot buy peace of heart. And money certainly cannot buy entrance into the Kingdom of God. Often money is a hindrance to these things. Money takes our minds off God. Riches, when used selfishly rather than for the glory of God, tend to corrupt in our hands. Money cannot be a substitute for God. If God has given you more wealth than your neighbors, dedicate it to Christ. Realize that you are only a steward of that which God has given you and some day you will have to give an account of every penny you have spent. The Internal Revenue Service wants a record of how you spend your money, but that is nothing compared to the books God is keeping.

Father, I would be a faithful steward of all You have given to me. Make me constantly aware of Your leading so I may wisely spend any money with which I have been entrusted.

An Angry World

The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17

The world, in the last few years, has reverted to a sort of barbarism. As practical Christianity has declined, rudeness and violence have increased. Neighbors quarrel with neighbors. Fighting is a major problem in our schools and the “gang wars” of the teenagers have come to present a serious menace in our cities. Fathers and mothers wrangle and bicker. Homes are disintegrating. High government officials in Washington engage in name-calling and in heated disputes not at all in keeping with the dignity of their office. Why and how has all this savagery crept into our social life? It is because we have forgotten Jesus’ words, “Happy are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.” I have seen tough, rough, hardened men open their hearts by faith, receive Christ as Savior, and become gentle, patient, merciful gentlemen.

Fill me with Your mercy and love, Lord. In an angry world let me be used to bring peace where there is strife.

His Love Is Obvious
.. the love of God toward us ... 1 John 4:9

Notice God’s love. The Bible teaches that God is love. You and I were sinners. We were aliens from God. We were enemies of God. We had rebelled against God. We deserved hell, but in spite of the fact that we resisted God, we rebelled against God, we sinned against God, we were enemies of God-the Bible says God loved us anyway with an everlasting love so that He was willing to give His Son to die on the cross for our sins. There is not a person who has the ability to love that way unless he comes to Christ. You don’t have the power to love.

Your love encompasses me, Lord Jesus, wherever I may be. There are so many who need the healing of Your love in their lives. Fill me to overflowing with "agapé" love for them. Amen

Ask What You Desire

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (John 15:7, NKJV)

It pleases God to give you the desires of your heart! He wants to see you happy, whole, strong and enjoying His blessing. When you make the Word of God your number one priority, when you stay connected to Him through prayer and worship, God promises that He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 tells us again that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts. One of the root definitions of the word “delight” means “soft.” This gives the picture of us being soft and mold-able, like clay, in the Potter’s hands. As we allow Him to shape and mold our character, as we yield ourselves to Him, our thoughts become His thoughts, our words become His Words, and our desires become His desires.

Today, don’t allow the distractions of everyday life keep you from spending time with Him. Abide in Him and let His Words abide in you because He will give you the desires of your heart!

Father, today I submit every area of life to You. I invite You to have Your way in my heart. Mold me and make me as I surrender every area of my life to You. I praise You and give You all the glory in Jesus' name. Amen

Courage to Stand

It is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being in Christ's family and being called by
his wonderful name! - 1 Peter 4:16 (TLB)

A great problem in America is that we have an anemic and watered-down Christianity that has produced an anemic, watered-down, and spineless Christian who is not willing to stand up and be counted on every issue. We must have a virile, dynamic, aggressive Christian who lives Christ seven days a week, who is ready to die, if necessary, for his faith. We need Christians who are ethical, honest, gracious, bold, strong, and devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I realize how spineless and pampered my Christian walk is. Give me Your courage, Lord Jesus, to follow You more devotedly.

The Fullness of the Blessing

But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. (Romans 15:29, NKJV)

Are you living in the fullness of His blessing? God’s blessing is His supernatural empowerment. It is His favor. We’ve all seen a measure of His blessing, but He wants to take you to a whole new level. God has promises and opportunities that you haven’t even thought of yet! What you’ve seen in the past is only a fraction of what God wants to do in your future!

Understand that God likes to outdo Himself. He wants to open doors for you and bring out talents and abilities that you didn’t even know you had. We serve a God of abundance! He is the God of more than enough. Not only does He want to meet your needs, He wants to give you enough to bless other people. That’s living in the fullness of the blessing.

Today, don’t settle where you are. Your destiny is not determined by the economy, your past, or what anyone else thinks or says. Your destiny is determined by Almighty God, and He wants you to walk in the fullness of His blessing!

Father, I come before You today with an open and humble heart, ready to receive all You have for me. Teach me to live a life that is pleasing to You so that I can be an example of Your love and walk in Your blessing in Jesus name. Amen

Light and Shadow

Stand steady, and don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Bring others to Christ... 2 Timothy 4:5 (TLB)

All the masterpieces of art contain both light and shadow. A happy life is one filled not only with sunshine, but one which uses both light and shadow to produce beauty. The greatest musicians, as a rule, are those who know how to bring song out of sadness. F***y Crosby, her spirit aglow with faith in Christ, saw more with her sightless eyes than most of us do with normal vision. She has given us some of the great gospel songs which cheer our hearts and lives. In a rat-infested jail in Philippi, Paul and Silas sang their song of praise at midnight to the accompaniment of the jailer’s whip. But their patience in suffering and persecution led to the heathen warden’s conviction.

Let my heart learn to sing when everything around me seems so dark. Give me Your grace to praise You, Lord Jesus.

Fulfilling the Law of Christ

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NIV)

When we live in peace and unity, it pleases God. When we love and serve others, putting their needs above our own, we are honoring Him. When we carry each other’s burdens, we are fulfilling the law of Christ, which is to love others.

What does it mean to carry each other’s burdens? There are many ways to reach out to people and help shoulder their load, so to speak. Just by giving an encouraging word or smile, you can help lighten the load for someone. When you pray and intercede for others in their day of difficulty, you are helping to carry their burdens. Maybe there are other ways to help the people around you. Maybe you can pay for someone’s groceries or give someone cash at the gas pump. Anytime you help others and reach out to those in need, scripture says you are directly lending a hand to God Himself.

Today, look for ways to lighten the load for the people around you. Be a burden lifter. Remember, in God’s kingdom what you sow, you shall reap. When you help others, God promises to repay you. He’ll pour out His victory and blessing on you all the days of your life!

Father, I want to fulfill Your law of love by serving and helping others. Show me how to be a blessing to the people around me so that I can help carry their burdens in Jesus name. Amen.

Where Is Your Hope?

This certain hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, connecting us with God himself - Hebrews 6:19 (TLB)

What are you placing your hope in for the future? Your country’s government, educational system, some plan or organization? My hope is in a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ, who sits at the right hand of God. I have hope and know that I’m going to heaven. And, right here and now in this present life, I have God’s presence to help me.

Suppose we had no Bible. Suppose there were no cross, no salvation, no empty tomb. Suppose we had nothing to hang on except, “Do your best, try to patch it up, do what you can.” Oh, but we have a hope. There is a plan of redemption, a plan for the future. The New Testament is an exciting Book to read, it is so full of hope and expectancy. And God is interested in you!

Reading Your Word, my heavenly Father, makes me realize that the world and all its heartaches are so transitory. Inspire me to reach others with Your message of hope.

HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE.
Apart from accepting Jesus as lord and savour, discovery of purpose is the next most important thing in life.

God does not create anything without a reason including you.

So everyone is created for a reason. That reason why you are created is what is called PURPOSE.

Until purpose is discovered, existence has no meaning.

It is what you are on earth to do(purpose) that made your creation meaningful.

Your purpose (reason for being) was determined before you were born. God said to Jeremiah, Before I formed thee in the womb I knew thee. "Before you came out of your mother's belly I sanctified thee and ordained thee a prophet into nations" Jer. 1:5-6. In Mark 7:37 What God says to one He says to all

Paul said in Galatians 1:15. "When it pleased God who separated me from my mother's womb'

Your purpose is what God separated you to accomplish Before you were born.

NOTE: Just like it is the manufacturer that determines what the product is to accomplish, it is God that determines what we are on earth to do.

So, you do not determine your purpose (reason for existence), you discover it. You do not fabricate it, you identify it. You do not conjour it, you find it out.

Unfortunately in every generation, only 10% of the population discover their purpose. This is one of the reason for the confusion in the world today because many people are not doing what they were wired by God to do.

There are no two persons on earth with exactly the same purpose. You know why? So that you can maintain a monopoly and be needed by others

The Glory Of The Lord

And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. (2 Chronicles 7:3)

In our text, Solomon had ended his prayer and fire came down from heaven to consume the sacrifices, "and the glory of the LORD filled the house”. Clearly, the fire from heaven was a signal of God's acceptance of the offering that was made. The glory of the Lord was the visible manifestation of His presence and splendour.

The Lord was pleased with Solomon's offering; the evidence was the fire that came down from heaven and consumed the sacrifice. In dedicating the house of God, Solomon bountifully offered twenty two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. What a way of giving back to God part of what He has blessed him with! The dedication ofthe temple afforded the king the opportunity to bring all the children of Israel together to have fellowship and to offer sacrifices before the Lord.

Today, while it is good to build magnificent places of worship for the people to worship the Lord, it is more important and acceptable to "present [our] bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is [our] reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). Our bodies must be preserved for God's use. We should also be willing to sacrifice all that He has blessed us with, including our very lives, on the altar of His service. This way, we will always experience the glory of God in our assemblies.

The beIiever's body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
