READ: JOHN 16:23-28
23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.
26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
THE MESSAGE:
Today's passage highlights Jesus' assurance to His disciples about the power of prayer in His name. He explains that, through His work on the Cross, they would have direct access to the Father (John 16:23). Jesus emphasises that asking in His name aligns prayers with His will and purpose, guaranteeing divine responses (John 16:24). His teaching reveals the intimate relationship believers can enjoy with the Father, rooted in His love for them because of their faith in Christ (John 16:27). These words point to the transformational power of Christ's mission, which bridges the gap between humanity and God, granting believers the privilege of communion with the Father.
For Christian believers, this passage teaches us to approach prayer with boldness and faith, trusting in the Father's love (Hebrews 4:16). Praying in Jesus' name is not a formula but a call to align our requests with His will and purpose (1 John 5:14-15). It assures us that God listens attentively to those who seek Him through Christ. This confidence inspires a deeper relationship with God, knowing that He delights in answering our prayers and fulfilling our joy (Psalm 37:4). Through prayer, we experience His peace and provision for every circumstance.
PRAYER: Lord, teach me to pray confidently in Your name, trusting in Your faithfulness, in Jesus' Name. Amen!

READ: JOHN 16:5-22
5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things.
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:
9 about sin, because people do not believe in me;
10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;
11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
The Disciples’ Grief Will Turn to Joy
16 Jesus went on to say, “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
17 At this, some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?”
18 They kept asking, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We don’t understand what he is saying.”
19 Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me’?
20 Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
THE MESSAGE:
Jesus prepares His disciples for His imminent departure, assuring them that His going away, was for their benefit. He promises the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who would guide them into all truth (John 16:7, 13). While Jesus acknowledges their sorrow at His departure (John 16:6), He offers hope by likening their grief to the labour pains of a woman giving birth, which turns into joy once the child is born (John 16:21).
This analogy emphasizes that their temporary sorrow would result in eternal joy when they see Him again in His resurrected glory (John 16:22). Jesus' words reflect His deep love for His disciples and His desire to prepare them for the transformative power of His resurrection and the Spirit's indwelling.
Christians are reminded that life's challenges often give way to outstanding spiritual joy when we trust in God's purposes. Like the disciples, we may endure seasons of grief and uncertainty, but Jesus assures us of His abiding presence through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26-27). This hope empowers us to persevere, knowing that our trials produce lasting joy in Christ (James 1:2-3). As we await His return, we are encouraged to live with the assurance of His victory over sorrow and death (1 Corinthians 15:57).
PRAYER:Lord, help me to endure sorrow with hope, knowing that Your joy will fill my heart. Amen!

READ: JOHN 16:1-4
These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
3 And these things they will do [a]to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
4 But these things I have told you, that when [b]the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.
“And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
THE MESSAGE:
The message in John 16:1-4 reveals Jesus' deep concern for His disciples as He prepared them for the challenges they would face. He warned them about persecution and rejection, ensuring they were not caught off guard when the trials would come (John 16:2-3). Jesus' words reflect His role as the Good Shepherd, who prepares and protects His flock (John 10:11). His reminder that suffering for righteousness' sake is a mark of true discipleship aligns with His earlier teaching in Matthew 5:10-12, where He pronounced blessings on those who are persecuted for His sake. The disciples, strengthened by His advice, demonstrated steadfastness and unshaking faith, as seen in Acts 5:1, where they rejoiced in being counted worthy to suffer for His name.
In today's world, Christians face various forms of opposition to their faith. This text assures us that Jesus equips His followers with the grace to endure (2 Corinthians 12:9). Believers are called to remain steadfast, trusting that trials produce perseverance and maturity (James 1:2-4). By abiding in Christ (John 15:4-5) and relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance (John 14:26), we find strength to overcome and testify of His love. Like the apostles, we are encouraged to stand firm, knowing that our perseverance glorifies God and fulfils His purpose in us (1 Peter 4:12-14).
PRAYER: Lord, grant me the courage to stand firm in my faith, even in times of trial, in Jesus' Name. Amen!

TEXT: John 14:1-14
The Way, the Truth, and the Life
14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The Father Revealed
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
The Answered Prayer
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [c]ask anything in My name, I will do it.
MESSAGE:- In today's passage, Jesus comforts His disciples, revealing Himself as the way, the truth, and the life. This message is particularly significant as we celebrate St. Philip and St. James, two apostles who demonstrated unshaking faith in their discipleship. Philip's question, "Show us the Father" (v.8), echoes humanity's deep longing to know God. Jesus responds by affirming His unity with the Father, reminding His followers that to see Him is to see the Father. St. James, often associated with steadfast faith, exemplifies a life fully devoted to Christ's mission.
Together, their lives encourage us to remain faithful and trust Jesus as the only path to eternal communion with God.
For Christians today, this passage is a reminder to find assurance and guidance in Jesus, amidst life's uncertainties. Faith in Him anchors us, providing peace and confidence in God's promises. As Jesus empowers His followers to do greater works, we are called to live as witnesses of His truth and love. Like Philip and James, we are invited to deepen our relationship with Christ, trusting Him to lead us in the way of righteousness and to strengthen us for the journey ahead.
PRAYER : Lord help me trust fully in Jesus as the way the truth, and the life. Amen!
