The crucifixion is said to be man's punishment for Christ's blasphemy against God, by claiming to be the Son of God. But in God's wisdom, the crucifixion became the very substitute for the punishment of man, that is, He died for the sins of His own crucifiers (whole mankind) The Resurrection is a vindication that indeed Christ was the Son of God, it is a sign that the Father has accepted what Christ has done, chiefly, His death on the cross for man.
Jesus is ultimately in control. He seemed a helpless man hanging on the cross, but as He hangs naked and dying, He was actually steering the events according to the Grand Plan of Salvation. No, death has not destroyed Him but through his death He destroyed death, He was not mastered by the Cross but He mastered the Cross. The most shameful event in our history has become the most glorious part of our history.
