In Matthew 27:15-17, Pilate famously asked if to release

"[IESOUS THE] 'SON OF THE FATHER',
OR IESOUS THE ONE BEING CALLED 'CHRISTOS'?"

The meaning of Barabbas is usually not translated and only some are lucky enough to find it upon investigation or hidden in a Bible commentary. Yet it is essential to translate this particular name, as it directly contrasts the 'son of the father' (the devil represented by Barabbas) to the true Son of THEOS.

Acts 2:1-17 (LSV) And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place, and there came suddenly out of the sky a sound as of a violent rushing wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting, and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it also sat on each one of them, and they were all filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the SPIRIT was giving them to declare.

And there were Jews dwelling in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven, and the rumor of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were, each one, hearing them speaking in his proper dialect, and they were all amazed, and wondered, saying to one another, “Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born?

Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya that [are] along Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we heard them speaking the great things of THEOS in our tongues.”

And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying to one another, “What would this wish to be?” And others mocking said, “They are full of sweet wine”; and Peter having stood up with the Eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them: “Men—Jews, and all those dwelling in Jerusalem! Let this be known to you, and listen to my sayings, for these are not drunken, as you take it up, for it is the third hour of the day.

But this is that which has been spoken through the prophet Joel: And it will be in the last days, says THEOS, I will pour out of My SPIRIT on all flesh, And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, And your young men will see visions, And your old men will dream dreams; And also on My menservants, and on My maidservants, In those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, And they will prophesy;

〣 NO to a Sunday Lord's Day which you might have learned from hearsay, extra-biblical tradition and your upbringing.

〣 NO to a Sabbath of Modern Judaism (sunset-sunset with many extra-biblical Oral Laws).

〣 YES to the biblical Sabbath from sunrise to sunrise, with none of the additional laws CHRISTOS habitually despised. He showed us in vivid detail what is part of biblical observance and especially what not. It was actually one of (if not) the main reason(s) He was crucified, and thus we should take the topic seriously and not wander between two possible days of rest as it is today's standard week in and out.

The Reformation brought comfort and some benefits, but it was not good by biblical standards and evil in many aspects.

It is a giant false dichotomy to think that we ought to chose either between the Roman Catholic church and those protesting against it. A true Christian is not defined by assuming a title 'Protestant ... (against satan)'. Nor did one single schism which came out of the Reformation provoke more unity or a greater fruit, but the fruit of every single schism (or denomination as most call it to sound more acceptable) was a greater division, as most clearly seen through the tens of thousands of divisions today. The only division found in the Bible was that of cities (e.g. the church of Ephesus), that between good and evil, and that between milk Christians and mature Christians.

If you are a Christian, then visit from time to time other churches within your town, and welcome others who visit your church. Don't call yourself a follower of a historical figure or of a so-called spiritual 'father' (Mat 23:9). Everytime you do this, you further divide the church and neglect IESOUS CHRISTOS as the only father of the true Church.

"... each one of you says:

"I, indeed, am of Paul" -

"and I of Apollos" - [replace it with Augustine or the Pope]

"and I of Cephas" - [replace it with Calvin or Luther]

"and I of CHRISTOS".

Has CHRISTOS been divided?

Was Paul crucified for you?

Or were you baptized into

the name of Paul?"

The Consolidated Bible was published earlier this year with today's traditional order of the NT Books, namely

Evangelia
Acts
Paul to Churches
Paul to Individuals
Hebrews
General Letters
Revelation

This order now changed with the announcement of the upcoming UBS6 and NA29 (Greek NT lead texts), as to reflect the structure found in -the majority- of early Greek manuscripts rather than the order popularized by Jerome for the Western Church and later cemented by Erasmus for the Reformation and its print materials (both Roman Catholics, Jerome was secretary to Pope Damasus who commissioned the Vulgate).

The new, yet rather original order is thus:

Evangelia
Acts
General Letters
Paul to Churches incl. Hebrews
Paul to Individuals
Revelation

We see that the General Epistles immediately follow Acts, in continuation of early tradition: Most major Eastern Greek manuscripts, many Byzantine Manuscripts; e.g. the Codex Alexandrinus, Ephraemi Rescriptus and Vaticanus reflected this precise order. The Vulgate, which some call "the most vulgarized and bastardized text imaginable", was a crucial forerunner in changing the NT order for the Western Church, and it changed the order of the Pauline and General Epistles.

The Vulgate was also infamous pioneer in moving Hebrews behind the Pauline Epistles. In the most significant manuscripts (e.g. Codex Sinaiticus, Vaticanus), Hebrews was firmly placed -within- the Pauline corpus. While the Eastern Church strongly accepted Paul's authorship, the Western Church doubted this, and Jerome accordingly popularized the new order and thus strongly shaped today's widespread perception of an allegedly separate book with unclear authorship.

Hebrews deviates in style from Paul's other books, but this and the opposition through a few scholars are not enough of a basis for rejecting his authorship, when contrasted by the majority of early scholars and canonical lists affirming it.

In stark contrast to the General Epistles, every Letter of Paul incl. Hebrews is signed "The Grace ... with you ...", which Paul states in 2The 3:17-18 to be "the sign of genuineness in every letter of mine; it is the way that I write."

Could it be any clearer?

When I read Paul's letter to Titus last week, it reminded me to compile a summary of the various New Testament passages on biblical rebuke for minor and major sins within the church.

In this post, you will find the five most important passages that generally encourage us to be gentle and hopeful for reconciliation. However, what is often lacking in church leadership and fellowship is the responsibility to step into uncomfortable situations and act decisively, with the last resort of expulsion, if the sinner shows no remorse, does not truly repent, and is no longer willing to be reconciled.

May the Holy Spirit grant you discernment and courage so that the church remains healthy. Ignorance, comfort and cultural diplomacy have no place in the church and always lead to decline. Dont' rely on church staff or others only, and do what the Bible instructs you to do.

There is perhaps nothing worse than an American secretary of war announcing a prayer based on Ezekiel 25:17 from the Old Testament, but instead reciting the final words from the film 'Pulp Fiction', just before the killer shoots his victim.

We have seen many near-blasphemous images in recent days from Trump, which I will not show here, and it should be clear even to the most naive person that the American government is actively targeting the Christian church.

We will see in the coming years that this public contempt for Christianity will lead to serious ridicule and persecution. Note this moment of history and pray for strength of yourself and of other Christians.
