Happy Easter! 🕊️

Jesus Christ is Risen! He is Rise, indeed. Hallelujah!

We pray that you would continue to walk along the narrow path of living a life of virtue, endeavoring to spread the love of Christ in the earthly spaces that you dwell.

May this Easter season continue to bring you lasting peace and deeply-rooted joy.

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Love.

As we approach the final days of our Lenten pilgrimage and anticipate the crowning joy of Easter, we are focusing on the chief of all virtues.

Love - so often confused with likes, lusts, and disordered desires - is a Person: God Himself. When all is said and done, and we are stripped of all our earthly adornments, the only gift we bring to the throne of grace is the measure of Christ’s love that we poured over our lives. How can we grow in this virtue? And how have we experienced this lavish love?

”It is the nature of love to transform the lover into the object loved. And so if we love God, we ourselves become divinized; for again, ‘Whoever is joined to God becomes one spirit with him.” - St. Thomas Aquinas

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Chastity.

In our pursuit of healing and wholeness, what a grace it is to be offered infinite chances of renewal and restoration, amidst a tide that seeks to mark our inherent beauty. Our hearts and minds were ravaged by the misguided teachings of both “purity culture” and the sexual revolution, and it is time that we reclaim the inherent beauty of being image-bearers of the Divine.

”Humility is the safeguard of chastity. In the matter of purity, there is no greater danger than not fearing the danger. For my part, when I find a man secure of himself and without fear, I give him up for lost. I am less alarmed for one who is tempted and who resists by avoiding the occasions, than for one who is not tempted and is not careful to avoid occasions. When a person puts himself in an occasion, saying, I shall not fall, it is an almost infallible sign that he will fal, and with great injury to his soul” - St. Philip Neri

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Meekness.

Who would have thought that being an “Influencer” can be an actual job title in this day and age? We live in an era of broadcasting the simple minutiae of our daily lives online, seeking approval from friends and strangers alike.

However, by doing so, we become increasingly unable to connect with our personal relationships in real life. How can we, like St. Joseph (whose Feast Day we celebrate this week), learn to flourish with grounded gentleness and strength?

”Joseph, of royal blood, united by marriage to the greatest and holiest of women, reputed the father of the Son of God, passed his life in labour, and won by the toil of the artisan the needful support of his family.” - Pope Leo XIII

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Diligence.

In a culture that rewards working harder and longer, how do we recognize the fallout of workaholism in our families and relationships? On the flip side, the overwhelming pressure to perform can also lead to a propensity towards slothful living. How do you hold the tension between the two?

”We ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of work, but the love with which it is performed” - Brother Lawrence, The Practice of Presence of God

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Temperance and how, left to our own devices, we are powerless against the pull of gluttony.

Our culture is inundated with a ceaseless desire for more. But the more we strive to chase after worldly goods, the more we realize that the things of this world will never satisfy us because God alone can truly satisfy our deepest needs. The virtue of temperance helps us to see things clearly and with a sober mind, acknowledged God’s providence in our lives and receiving them in a rightly-ordered way.

”A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.” - G.K. Chesterton

This week, we are considering the Virtue of Generosity and how freedom from a scarcity mindset can truly transform the way we live our lives.

”Give Christ the honor prescribed in his law by giving your riches to the poor. For God does not want golden vessels but golden hearts.” - St. John Chrysostom, Bishop

As we journey towards Easter this Lenten season, we are walking through the seven holy virtues that point our hearts and minds heaven-ward. What we desire is an interior revolution, oriented towards Christ, guided by the merciful help of the Holy Spirit.

We are considering the Virtue of Humility and how foundational it is to a flourishing life. Humility is the seat of all other virtues - a foundational posture that allows us to embody the rest of the virtues with grace.

”Humility is the only virtue that no devil can imitate” - St. John Climacus
