A Collect (from Indigenous Ministries, written to accompany the Covenant of 1994)

Creator God,
from you every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.
You have rooted and grounded us in your covenant love,
and empowered us by your Spirit
to speak the truth in love,
and to walk in your way towards justice and wholeness.
Mercifully grant that your people,
journeying together in partnership,
may be strengthened and guided
to help one another
to grow into the full stature of Christ,
who is our light and our life.
Amen.

Congratulations (and niawen'kรณ:wa!), Donna! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Today Canon Donna Bomberry was presented with the Anglican Award of Merit by our primate, Archbishop Linda Nicholls.

The award, the Anglican Church of Canadaโ€™s highest honour for lay people, celebrates exemplary service to the church at the national level.

Over the years, Donna has served the Church in a number of roles: as chair of the Council of Native Ministries, now known as the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples (ACIP), as a staff member with The Primateโ€™s World Relief and Development Fund, and as Indigenous Ministries coordinator. In retirement, she has helped to establish the self-determining Indigenous church. She has also served with the Anglican Indigenous Network, including a stint as secretary general from 2009 to 2011, and with the International Anglican Womenโ€™s Network.

Donnaโ€™s mark on our Church is deep and profound, and we join with the primate and so many others in celebrating her exceptional witness to the Gospel.
