We have officially launched our Chios site team!

This past week, our team on Chios has begun their work on the island. The first week was spent preparing classrooms and space for their Summer English Classes program for both children and adults. Their aim is to provide an opportunity for camp residents to build up their English skills and meet each individual where they are at in their English proficiency.

As the team continues to establish themselves, smaller scale maintenance assessments and projects have also begun in the education hub. This is to help ensure a higher quality experience for both students and teachers.

We are looking forward to continuing our operations on Chios and how we can best serve Camp Vial’s residents.

Unsung Heroes: Meet Saed 🦷

At our Social and Medical Center, healing begins with understanding — and often ends in a smile.
That’s where Saed comes in.

As the translator at our dental clinic, Saed helps refugees communicate clearly with our dentist, making sure that fear turns into trust — and pain into relief.

But his role goes far beyond translation. He also takes care of the entire coordination and administrative side of the clinic — scheduling appointments, organizing the flow of patients, and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Saed also brings an incredible sense of humor. He creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that helps even the most anxious patients — especially those who fear the dentist — feel at ease and gradually overcome their fears.

He has a real talent for languages. Even when patients speak a language he doesn’t know, he finds ways to communicate — quickly learning key words like “injection” or “filling” so that the dental visit can proceed with clarity and care.

Thanks to him, every patient not only gets the care they need, but also leaves with something even more powerful: the confidence to smile again.

Thank you, Saed, for being the voice behind every restored smile.

A father’s greatest inheritance is not wealth or success — it’s the legacy he leaves in the lives of his children.

This Father’s Day, we honor the fathers who lead with faith, humility and love that echoes through generations.

The life of Costas Macris is a beautiful reminder that a true legacy continues long after a lifetime of service. Today, his children continue that mission and carry forward the values, vision and faith he planted so faithfully. There is no greater inheritance than children who continue the work with the same heart and purpose.

And for those fathers who feel they have fallen short or missed opportunities along the way, be encouraged: God's grace is greater than our failures and it is never too late to leave a legacy of faith, love and devotion to Christ.

Happy Father’s Day to every father, mentor and spiritual leader whose example continues to inspire others every day. 💙

“Despite the short time I spent with Eurorelief, I see them as very professional in their field. This allowed me to learn a lot and discover another side of my personality, making me consider repeating this experience in the future.” 🙏🏻

This is Mohamed. He is from Sudan and has been in Mavrovouni camp on Lesvos for the past five months. Mohamed volunteers in the library, where he supports with daily tasks such as sorting books and helping others find what they need. Together with Adriaan, a volunteer from the Netherlands, he also does outreach in the camp where they share information about the library and encourage more people to come and join in the fun.

Mohamed shares that volunteering with Eurorelief has helped him express a more positive side of himself. He values the sense of community within the Eurorelief team and enjoys being part of it. Through this experience he also gets to learn more about European cultures and connect with people from different backgrounds. In addition to his work in the library and participating in activities, Mohamed was also one of the standout players during the football tournament recently organised by Yoga & Sport with Refugees (YSR) where Eurorelief proudly finished in second place. His performance on the field even earned him the nickname “Mo Salah.” ⚽️
