Parishioners from St. Benedict, All Saints, Transfiguration and St. Andrew’s joined the Life Chain this afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00pm, at the corner of Kipling and Dixon. It is an annual prayerful and peaceful witness throughout Canada and the US, to the sanctity of human life and the harm of abortion. At 3:00 Sr. Hae-Jin led the group in prayer for the protection of all unborn children in the womb.

Holiness doesn’t happen by accident.

We’re given Scripture, grace, the sacraments and the Church—but we still have to choose to show up.

Every day, we choose again:

“I want to be a saint. I want to be like the teacher.”

Homily clip from Deacon Mike.
What does scripture say about God’s wisdom?
God’s wisdom is intelligent, gentle and unique.
Traits of a good friend.

Have you ever wondered what a priest puts on before church starts? Father Steve shows us the special layers he wears for Mass and what they mean. First is the white robe called an alb, which reminds us of baptism. Next is the stole around his neck, which shows he is doing God’s work. Finally, he puts on the colorful outer robe called a chasuble, which stands for love. Father Steve’s robe has pictures of Saint John Bosco and Saint Mary on it. Since it is the last day of summer camp, he is asking them to watch over all the kids.

One line from a reading stopped Fr. Steve in his tracks:

“Prepare to meet your God.”

It’s a reminder that our relationship with God isn’t just for someday—it’s something we’re invited to live every day.

Congratulations to Fr. Raja, who on Saturday, July 11, was officially installed as the new Salesian director of the Toronto community. The installation was led by Fr. Dominic Tran, SDB, provincial of the Salesian Province of St. Philip the Apostle (SUE). The mass was concelebrated by Fr. John and Fr. Steve along with visiting Salesians, Fr. Peter Jacko, Provincial of Slovakia and Fr. Susith Milroy, a Philosophy professor at Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, doing doctoral research in Toronto.

The joyous occasion coincided with the feast day of our parish’s patron saint, St. Benedict, known for his motto “Ora et Labora” or “Pray and Work”.

During the ceremony, gratitude was also expressed to Fr. John Puntino, who led the community during the previous three-year term.

Fr. Steve shares how a five-day silent retreat transformed the way he encountered God.

The first few days were difficult. But through silence and prayer, he began recognizing God’s presence everywhere.

Sometimes the greatest spiritual growth happens when we simply slow down and listen.
