Feel called to pilgrimage?

The Crittenden Pilgrimage Bursary, created by The Rev. Dr. Jeff Crittenden and his wife, Katherine, reflects their shared commitment to the transformative power of pilgrimage and the communities it creates.

This bursary supports people in the United Church of Canada interested in undertaking human-powered journeys such as walking, cycling, paddling, wheelchairing, and more.

Applicants should demonstrate financial need, and recipients are asked to share their experience upon return through a reflection, video, or other offering. Funding helps offset costs like travel, food, and preparation.

I’m pleased to be offering a course this spring through Huron’s Licentiate in Theology Program:

JESUS AND PAUL: The Gospel’s Power in a Roman Empire
Together, we will explore the New Testament within its first- and second-century Mediterranean context, engaging its narratives, letters, and poetry as witnesses to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We will also consider how the earliest followers of Jesus proclaimed this message across the Roman Empire, and how these texts continue to shape faithful and compelling proclamation today.

Beginning April 11
Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (ET)
Hosted live via Zoom

$350 (Full Credit) | $175 (Audit)

If you are interested in deepening your engagement with scripture, particularly for preaching and teaching, I would be glad to have you join us.

Jeff

It has been so inspiring to witness where people feel called to go on pilgrimage.

We already have participants planning to walk the Bruce Trail, along the West coast of Newfoundland, and the Great Divide out West. Others will cycle the Guelph to Goderich route, journey through Southern Alberta paddle and ancient trade route in BC and walk in Winnipeg.

Each pilgrimage is unique.
Each path holds meaning.

Anyone can participate. Your pilgrimage can be close to home or far away. It can be walked, wheeled, cycled, paddled, or shaped in a way that feels true to you.

This is where some are going. Where will your pilgrimage lead you?

There is still room for others to join our Certificate in Pilgrimage Studies.

Early bird registration ends February 6.
