Have you ever thought about how our nervous system works? Oh! Very fascinating!
When we face stressful or traumatic situations, our sympathetic nervous system (SNS) kicks in to help us cope. But here's the thing: once the situation is resolved, the SNS keeps running unless our parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) steps in to bring us back to a state of calm.
The PNS is like the gardener in our inner world, responsible for restoring equanimity and emotional regulation. It's the system that helps us feel safe, peaceful, connected, and productive. Just like tending to a garden, the PNS ensures the right flow of emotions, just like the right flow of water. It's all about finding the right balance.
But what happens when trauma strikes? It's like an earthquake that shakes our inner garden, leaving us struggling to find stability. Trauma can have lasting effects, from reduced stress tolerance to new triggers and unwanted behaviors. It can make us feel like we're living on shaky ground.
But here's the beautiful part: with time and healing, we can rebuild our inner garden and find stability again. Remember, every child is a precious gift, and just like every child, every individual has a unique purpose and plan. So let's nurture our inner gardens, tend to our emotional well-being, and find that sense of peace and connection within ourselves.
The fact is, everyone can heal from trauma if you put in the work. The problem is, most people are not even aware that they have experienced trauma let alone heal from it. What happens after that? The wounds in their souls gets worse and deep and some of them gets wounded beyond repair. This is where mental illness comes in. But have got good news, no matter how bad your mental illness is, you can still heal. The question is, are you ready to heal?
