Glory Lutheran Church

Glory Lutheran Church We are a Christian community that is Scripture and Christ-centred - focusing on God's glory! "Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth."

This may be one of the most familiar verses from the Bible as it occurs in the Christmas story of Jesus' birth. It can also serve as the introduction to who we are as a congregation. We want to echo the song of the angels in the fields of Bethlehem giving glory to God in worship ("reaching up"). We want to bring peace in Christ's name to the peoples of the earth ("reaching out"). We want to gather

around the manger and the cross of Jesus in loving community ("reaching in"). We are located on a 40 acre parcel of land along the Old Man creek in Sherwood Park, Alberta. We are bounded on two other sides by Highway 21, and by the east-west CP rail-line. We are constantly reminded of God's creation and our place in the community of life, as we observe deer, beavers, swallows, wood-peckers, hawks, herons, gophers, bees, over the course of the seasons around our church building. We are also reminded of the growth of plant life and the abundance of food in our hay field, vegetable garden, fruit orchard (just starting), and bee hives. We like to call it Glory land. Our ministry extends from the communion table in our sanctuary to the Bissel Centre lunch table in Edmonton, to the Sherwood Park food bank, and to ministries of service in other countries through our partners at Canadian Lutheran World Relief. Our community is an open one for anyone searching for a place to belong, a place to explore the meaning of life, a place to worship God and mark life's milestones, and a place to serve neighbors. As part of the 15th century reform movement started by Martin Luther, we belong to the one holy universal church of Jesus Christ. We welcome you!

ABT Synod Youth Gathering: Boundless
Grades 7-12 (12-18yrs)
May 1-3, 2026
Camp Kuriakos at Sylvan Lake

Please Let Aliya know if you are interested by April 15 as registration is due on April 17.
The next ABT Synod Youth Gathering will be held at Camp Kuriakos, May 1-3, 2026 where Pastor Elly McHan will be our Keynote Speaker. Our theme is “BOUNDLESS” where we will explore God’s Boundless Love: the abundance that the earth provides us along with how God brings us together in Love, Faith and Word. With the desire to build community within ABT youth groups our Synod is providing a fun and worshipful Youth Gathering this spring.

This weekend will be a very exciting event. We hope that youth will have the opportunity to make new connections with those from around our ABT synod and renew those made over the last gatherings.

Along with their Home Team Leader all youth from grade 7 – 12 (12-18 years) are invited to register with their Home Team (Congregation).

Our weekend: arrive at Camp Kuriakos on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 7:00 pm. Over the weekend we will be providing a youth centered program, offering varied worship experiences that help youth connect word and sacrament to their daily Christian life. All while participating in camp activities both inside and out (please pack proper clothing and footwear to have some fun outside.)

Registration includes 2 nights at Camp Kuriakos 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner plus snacks for the weekend. Each participant will be provided with a T-shirt to remember the weekend.

Additional Information: • Youth Groups should plan to arrive at Camp Kuriakos Friday, May 1, 2026 at 7:00pm. • We will be staying in cabins, please pack sleeping gear (sleeping bag or blanket & pillow). • Please pack outdoor clothing including footwear. • The weekend will finish up Sunday around 12:00 – 12:30pm.
