We must remember when involved with Children's Ministry, its success does not depend on how good we are as teachers , or how great we are as parents, it is How Great , Awesome and Wonderful God is. We try our best and I thank God He takes care of the rest, through our shortcomings, He fills in the gaps, His power is made perfect in our weaknesses......

My heart breaks over the terrorist attacks on Christians in Nigeria, the terror on Muslims in New Zealand , the bombings and killings on Jews in Israel, murders from black on whites, white on blacks, blacks on blacks , whites on whites, or any other color of skin and ethnicity against another around the world, murders of children by their own mothers in the sacred womb, abuse on women and children by a greedy desensitized world, the killing of any and all human life; My heart breaks for a world full of hatred yet no law, rule or ban of anything can fix or mend it as they are as feeble bandaids needing constant change on a much deeper problem; the battle of good against evil is not a make believe notion of movies and books, it is a battle since the beginning of time , unfortunately many deny it and therefore do not acknowledge that the cause is our human sinful condition and fail to recognize who is the solution. The World needs saving from itself and JESUS is its Saviour!. Pray for our world to come to repentance, forgiveness and salvation......

Don't give up on food, share your food.....
Don't change your physical diet
Change your Spiritual diet
Isaiah 58
5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,
only a day for people to humblethemselves?
Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
and for lying in sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast,
a day acceptable to the Lord?

6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothethem,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

If we think that simply giving up chocolate for 40 days is what Lent is about then we have completely missed the point. Lent is a time of Spiritual change by means of confession, repentance, restoration , renewal, transformation and growth, I doubt giving up on chocolate will have any impact on our hearts, minds, attitudes or our priorities. What we ought to give up are things that hinder our relationship with Jesus and each other, if any activity, habit or attitude blocks our ability to get closer to God those are the ones to abstain from during lent with the end goal of giving up on them for good not just for the season. What good is it to stop complaining for forty days just to start again on Easter Monday? Doesn't it make the sacrifice pointless and consequently making light of Christ's Sacrifice for us? What good would it be to stop watching so much TV for forty days because it takes away from your quality family time and hinders our devotion spent with God only to use our PVR to record what we may miss during the 40 days of lent only to then binge watch after Easter? No transformation, growth or improvement would be accomplished , no lasting change.
The Season of Lent is an opportunity to allow Christ in our hearts to remove what hinders His redemptive and sanctifying work in us so that we leave the old behind and move into the new with Him in His strength not ours.
Simply denying ourselves chocolate, pop or a hamburger is an act of will in our own strength giving us the risk of boasting over something trivial and it will have no impact on our Love relationship with God, our families and our neighbours. Lent however can be a catalyst for change if we ask for God to help us give up an attitude, habit or sin. We cannot do it by sheer human will which only makes a temporary change, we need His Holy Spirit to work in us to bring everlasting results. Let us Have a blessed Lent Season not because of anything we've done but for all He has done, is doing and yet will do in us and through us......
