Anglican Diocese of Quebec / Diocèse anglican de Québec border in the south to the Labrador border in the north.

We are the Anglican Communion in eastern and central Quebec, called to shine with Christ’s light in acts of praise and reconciling love, to be bearers of the Good News, ministers of God’s grace, and faithful stewards of God’s Church and Kingdom. Part of the Anglican Church of Canada and the worldwide Anglican Communion, our vast diocese stretches from the Magdalen Islands in the east to Lake Memphremagog in the west, from the U.S.

On Trinity Sunday we commemorate a central doctrine in our Christian faith: God’s revelation of Himself as one God and three persons. As we read or listen to today’s Gospel from Matthew 28, the Great Commission, we are invited to consider the Trinity in the life of the Church and its mission. As St Patrick once wrote:

Since I believe in the Trinity, I must make known the gift of God and his eternal peace without fear of danger. I must faithfully spread the name of God everywhere, so that after I die I will leave an inheritance for my brothers and children, thousands of people, the ones I baptized in the Lord. (Confessio, 14)

Blessed Trinity Sunday!

//

(Confessio 14)

Bonne fête de la Trinité !

Covering an area of approximately 720,000 square kilometers, the Diocese of Quebec is larger in size than France. The diocesan boundaries stretch from the Magdalen Islands in the east, to Kawawachikamach in the north, and to the Eastern Townships in the south.

The east-west boundaries are roughly 900 km apart; the north-south boundaries are approximately 1,100 km apart. On our southern edge, which is at most points the border with the United States, we have a border ministry shared with the Episcopal dioceses of New Hampshire and Vermont.

Our diocese consists of large areas marked by scattered towns and villages. The largest geographical portion of the diocese is home to unfettered wildlife, unseen forest vales, and unnavigated streams. Within our boundaries, we are given a sense of God’s vast creation.
⚜️

If you’re traveling to the Lower Saint Lawrence region of Quebec this summer, make sure to stop by Saint James' Anglican Church, Cacouna, one of the summer chapels in the Diocese. Built in 1865, the historic church was once only connected to Quebec City by steamship or train. Services resume on June 28!

In recent years, the Anglican Foundation of Canada supported the restoration of the roof and bell tower, as well as the foundation of the rectory. In 2020, the Quebec Religious Heritage Council awarded the parish an award of excellence for the restoration.

Congratulations to Jack, Benson, and their family!

Almighty and everlasting God, heavenly Father, We give thee humble thanks That thou hast called us to the knowledge of thy grace, And faith in thee: Increase this knowledge, and confirm this faith in us evermore. Give thy Holy Spirit to this Child, That he may be born again, And be made an heir of everlasting salvation; Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, Now and for ever. Amen.

//

Amen.

Over the past two weeks, Bishop Bruce has been in Italy participating in various activities aimed at strengthening the bonds of communion between Anglicans and Roman Catholics.

Some highlights from the trip included a meeting of the Malines Conversations Group, which fosters ecumenical dialogue between Anglicans and Roman Catholics. He preached at St. Paul’s Within the Walls Episcopal Church and at the Anglican Centre in Rome. During his time in Rome, he met with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Holy See, a representative of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, and Canada’s ambassador to the Holy See.

On Wednesday, he attended the general audience with Pope Leo and had the opportunity to briefly speak with the Holy Father about the importance of Anglicans and Catholics growing together in unity and mission in a world that seems more divided than ever.

Christmas greetings from Bethlehem and the Anglican archbishop in the Holy Land

Today, we rejoice in the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who came to bring peace and redemption to the world.

Bible Verse:
"For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we celebrate Your birth with joy and thanksgiving. May Your peace reign in our hearts and lives as we share the good news of Your love. Amen.
